'Herd Immunity' Not Possible in U.S., Experts Say, But We May Not Need It

It’s becoming increasingly clear as the pandemic continues to wind down that the goal of achieving “herd immunity” in the U.S. won’t be possible — at least, as it’s defined by public health officials. Too many of us decline to be vaccinated for the U.S. to meet the target goal of 70-90 percent of citizens who have either been vaccinated or contracted Covid-19.

Instead, we’ve got to accept the fact that the virus will become a “manageable threat” and continue to bedevil the world for years to come.

“The virus is unlikely to go away,” said Rustom Antia, an evolutionary biologist at Emory University in Atlanta. “But we want to do all we can to check that it’s likely to become a mild infection.”

Part of the problem is the coronavirus itself. The virus is mutating at an alarming rate. Some of the variants have been shown to be more infectious. Some are more virulent and cause more severe symptoms.

But so far, the vaccines that have been approved for use have demonstrated great effectiveness against all Covid variants. That’s the good news. The bad news is that some virologists believe that a variant is going to come along that is resistant to the current crop of vaccines. Then what?

For the moment, this scenario is unlikely. It’s probable that the vaccine will give at least some protection, which means fewer hospitalizations and deaths regardless of what variant is causing the infection.

Even if it honestly, genuinely did disappear, does anyone actually think that TPTB would admit it?

It would take away their excuse for controlling un and forcing the use of their new bioweapon they are calling a vaccine.

As usual, the experts contradict each other.
I am more likely to believe you can still get and spread Covid-19 after getting the ‘gene therapy’ jab.. but you won’t get as sick.
We shall see.
I personally won’t get it.. I have enough inflammation and auto-immune conditions as it is.. don’t need any more!

Very simply this: suppose the government were to say those vaccinated did not have to wear a mask anywhere, in stores, restaurants, etc. Now how long before the unvaccinated claim they have been vaccinated and don’t have to wear a mask? There’s no way short of a vaccine passport to prove you’ve had the vaccine. Given a choice between vaccine passports or trusting the unvaccinated to be truthful....

No, the reason is far simpler. There’s no way to distinguish between who has been vaccinated and who has not. Too many would claim they’ve been vaccinated to avoid wearing the masks. There’s no way short of a vaccine passport to prove you’ve had the vaccine. Given a choice between vaccine passports or trusting the unvaccinated to be truthful....

Are you referring to Stella Immanuel, one of the spokespersons for AFD. Do you believe she’s getting the truth out when she claims alien DNA is used in medical treatments, scientists are developing vaccines to prevent people from becoming religious, that demons are impregnating women, and blames witches for certain medical conditions. She also believes in witchcraft and astral sex.

For some reason I would trust the CDC before I trust Stella or any of the AFD she hangs out with.

I’ve read that that is the beliefs of Stella’s native country religion. I have no idea what she subscribes to, personally.

I do know that she is a practicing physician in Houston, TX.

I guess if she were a total crackpot the Texas Medical Board would not allow her to practice.
