Jeanine Pirro says Chauvin guilty verdict 'supported by the facts' and 'will be upheld on appeal'
Washington Examiner ^ | April 20, 2021 | Carly Roman

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro agreed with a Minnesota jury's guilty verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin and predicted the convictions would hold against an appeal.

Pirro, a former district attorney and an ally of former President Donald Trump who often praises law enforcement, said the decision to convict Chauvin of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd was "supported by the facts."

"I've tried many murder cases, and I've sat as a judge on murder cases. It is rare that you even get a picture of the victim in a murder case ... but here, we had a living, breathing person that the jury was able to relate to. ... This was an emotional as well as an intellectual decision," she said on Tuesday. "And when I say that, make no mistake: The facts are solid on this verdict. This verdict will be upheld on appeal."

Pirro applauded the convictions as proof that "the American justice system works."

"For all those people that want to burn down streets, just let the court do its job," she added.

No, I haven’t seen any video, but how long before you called uncle if he was on your back? And you’re probably not in poor condition. A lot of heavy people have trouble breathing or are out of breath just standing up.

The fact he managed to vocalize “I can’t breathe” several times does not mean he was getting sufficient oxygen.

Guilt or innocence really no longer matters. The threats, violence and statements by various high officials made an impartial trial impossible and compromised the legal system beyond repair. The certain knowledge of what would happen to cities and jurors tainted the process. The Democrat brown shirt mob of Antifa and BLM own the streets and can intimidate and destroy most who oppose them. Tucker Carlson had Candace Owens on tonight and she gave a passionate speech about how the country is being destroyed and the mob is being educated and readied to attack on command and never think about actual facts. Under current leadership, the US is becoming a banana republic with politics infusing everything that everyone does. Pirro is wrong on confidence in the legal system, although she is probably right that the verdict will stand.

She is an idiot. The finding of fact are not argued on appeal. Failures of the law/legal aspects such as whether a change of venue should have been granted are.

This trial was a kangaroo court. Beyond a reasonable doubt was never considered by the jury. The jurors were intimidated knowing full well that their lives and loved ones would be in danger if they didn’t come back with a quick guilty on all 3 counts

“I think if I’d been on that jury I would have acquitted him of all charges. He was dealing with a guy who had consumed drugs, including amphetamines, which may have given him that violent strength he exhibited in the video. His behavior was weird, unpredictable. He refused to comply with police orders. What’s a cop to think?”

Not to mention the guy had a bad heart and had taken a fatal dose of fentanyl. He was crying he couldn’t breathe before they put him on the ground. OJ redux.

“Even more sad to see FReepers defending a dirty cop like Chauvin. I guarantee you he didn’t only mistreat black thugs like Saint Floyd.”

You are greatly misinformed or unable to pay attention. Please tell us unfortunate Freepers why the copy is “dirty”. Actually, no need to reply.

Well now I have even less to miss on Fox News. The zeitgeist got to her, and up until now she had been one of the best. So sad.

I believed he was going to be found guilty as soon as the medical examiners testified. His cause of death, officially by the ME, was Homicide. Despite all the other evidence, being found not guilty of homicide, when the death certificate formally stated his cause of death was homicide, was near impossible.

When this first happened, I didn’t watch the video — still haven’t — to wait for the truth to come over the hype of the left. After the verdict, it now seems to be hype on the right, with your post the most realistic I’ve read.

I’ve said the left deliberately elevates these dead criminals not because they want justice, but because they want division to weaken and destroy America.

“Homicide” doesn’t imply guilt.

“Conceptually, a homicide (the killing of one person by another) can be unlawful and intentional—what is traditionally referred to as murder—or unlawful and unintentional—what is traditionally referred to as manslaughter or criminally reckless homicide—lawful and intentional—usually self-defense or defense of others—or lawful and unintentional—accident or misadventure.”

Chauvin's defense team (if there was one) stunk.

They blew it big time.

If a “Murder Worse Than Killing Jesus” charge was included, he’d have been found guilty of that too! Because George Floyd, as we all know, was vastly more precious than Jesus Christ! End Sarcasm.

Thanks for the info and reply - I did not know those nuances. Still that was my feeling when I saw the ME’s testimony.
