A just-released mugshot of Kim Potter — the former Minnesota cop who fatally shot Daunte Wright after mistaking her gun for her Taser — shows the 26-year veteran looking bare-faced and solemn.
Potter is cooling her heels Wednesday at the Hennepin County Jail, where she’s being held without bail pending second-degree manslaughter charges in the death of Wright.

Damn, this sure wiped that smile off her face. She knows her life is over.
This quote pissed me off... Wright family attorney Ben Crump said the decision to charge Potter is “appreciated,” but added that “no conviction can give the Wright family their loved one back.”
What a danged tragedy. As brutal as this was will jail time rehabilitate a deadly mistake? She has to be devastated.
Held without bail for manslaughter? Can’t wait to hear from local MN lawyers if this is the standard fair for this charge. I’d wager it almost certainly is not.
Does jail time really ever undo the crime? I dunno if it even reduces the chances of it happening again, recidivism is intense.

Why would anyone want to be a police officer in this climate?
I’d be seriously looking at retiring ASAP or a new career, maybe private security or consulting.
It’s a real shame how things have turned out these past few years.
And I’m not a cop a$$ kisser, either. I think shooting dogs, no knock raids and most SWAT teams are unnecessary. The militarization of the police is the wrong way to go, but equally so is the demonization of the police.

Its not like there isn’t a booming job market for smart, reliable people in private industry either. WTF would anyone stay in a leftist-city PD department with politicians who are just waiting to pounce is beyond me.

Daunte was known to have firearms and to use them to commit crimes.
He didn’t run.
He jumped back into his car.
Was he going for a gun?
There are lots of places to hide a gun in a car.
