Christopher Miller, who served as acting secretary of defense under former President Donald Trump, blamed him for the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol in a new interview.
“Would anybody have marched on the Capitol, and tried to overrun the Capitol, without the president’s speech?” Miller said during an interview with Vice on Showtime, which will air in full on March 14. “I think it’s pretty much definitive that wouldn’t have happened.”
Shortly before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, the president told the crowd of his “Save America Rally” that the 2020 election was “a criminal enterprise,” and encouraged them to “fight like hell.”
“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he said hours before members of that same crowd burst through the doors of Congress in an attempt to stop lawmakers from certifying the results.
Miller noted that although he does not know if Trump knew his speech would invoke such a drastic response, there would not have been an attack without him.
“It seems cause-and-effect,” Miller said of Trump’s speech, later adding, “The question is, did he know he was enraging people to do that? I don’t know.”
Miller was named acting secretary of defense in November 2020, after Trump fired Mark Esper. Miller received backlash on Jan. 6 for his response to the Capitol attack, as many faulted his department for taking too long to deploy the National Guard.
“It comes back to understanding how the military works — this isn’t a video game, it’s not Black Ops Call of Duty,” Miller said, defending his part in the response, before revealing that he never spoke to Trump on Jan. 6.

Are all people in government as stupid and illogical as this moron?
Gee. Mediaite found another moron to bash President Trump.
I’m shocked.
How is Miller compromised...hmmm?
He’s trying to win favor to keep his career going. He’s pulling a Graham!
It also wouldn’t have happened if the Democrats didn’t pull the ballot box sh**. It also wouldn’t have happened if the guard was called in as Trump requested.
It is just his opinion not backed up by any hard evidence. But the media and the left will portray as proof.
what a huge disappointment. I really thought this guy was on the good side.....clearly NOT
So much for the accolades bestowed upon Christopher Miller back when he was named Acting Defense Secretary.
Funny, I thought the guy who stole the election was responsible.
Guess me and Miller see things a different way.
Too bad Don Trump got him a job. Didn’t do the same for me and I gave him thousands!
But I didn’t expect anything in return except good policies run by good people.
Trump kinda comes up short in that department. It appears that he appointed a vipers nest of traitors and backstabbers.
Needs to work on that.
I just wish it was an actual attack on the capital instead of people walking around taking selfies.
the President told the crowd of his “Save America Rally” that the 2020 election was “a criminal enterprise,”...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was.
The “siege” of the Capitol was not instigated by Trump supporters, the most any of them did was unauthorized tourism.
Hey, Chris, it was planned well in advance of PDJT’s speech.
He was thrown in at the end that’s all dude was a tool
The answer is YES, the capital police already testified it was preplanned. C’mon Man!
And Trump wouldn’t have run for office had it not been for the swamp, so blame them.
To the left, of course Trump is completely to blame for anything and everything they can find to accuse him of.
The man really could have personally found a cure for cancer, an abundant and new source of renewable energy, and negotiated with an alien life form for colonizing rights to the Milky Way Galaxy and beyond, and the left would scream that he was destroying our democracy and the country.
Peach
Trump has a little less than four years to assemble a shadow cabinet and a shadow executive branch consisting of people of much better quality than his first term. There were some great ones - Mike Pompeo, Kayla McEnany - but far too many in his first term were worthless backstabbers.
