A week before, Texas begged for help and asked for DOE to lift federal regulations barring state's energy output.

An Emergency Order from the Biden administration’s Department of Energy shows Texas energy grid operator ERCOT was instructed to stay within green energy standards by purchasing energy from outside the state at a higher cost, throttling power output throughout the state ahead of a catastrophic polar vortex.
Going into effect Sunday, Feb. 14, Emergency Order 202-21-1 shows the Energy Dept. was aware of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s statewide disaster declaration and that ERCOT was readying gas utilities in preparation for a demand surge.
The order shows Acting Energy Secretary David Huizenga did not waive environmental restrictions to allow for maximum energy output, instead ordering ERCOT to utilize all resources in order to stay within acceptable emissions standards – including purchasing energy from outside the state.
“ERCOT anticipates that this Order may result in exceedance of emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury, and carbon monoxide emissions, as well as wastewater release limits,” the order states. “To minimize adverse environmental impacts, this Order limits operation of dispatched units to the times and within the parameters determined by ERCOT for reliability purposes.”
Moreover, the order instructed an “incremental amount of restricted capacity” to be sold to ERCOT at “a price no lower than $1,500/MWh,” an increase of over 6,000 percent over February 2020 prices of $18.20.
On Wednesday, the Dallas Business Journal reported, “Electricity on the Texas grid has averaged about $1,137.33 per megawatt hour so far in February, up from $18.20 per megawatt hour in February 2020, according to data from the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas. That’s a jump of more than 6,000 percent.”
Days later, the Public Utility Commission of Texas set prices at $9,000/MWh.
The EO shows the Biden administration basically ordered ERCOT to throttle its energy output by forcing it to comply with environmental green energy standards, while knowing full well Texans could freeze to death in their homes with zero electricity as temperatures plunged into the single digits.

A widely used realtime pricing option is Griddy, which costs an extra $10/month to use and has not been listed on the official Power To Choose site.
Griddy requires prepaying $50 at a time for the immediate use of your next minutes/hours/days of electric use. It is a prepay program against the realtime prices you are always buying. It is these people who have already been charged, in part.
They wanted to focus the blame on Cruz being able to take his family out of the problem area for a brief time and blame him. As far as wimd and solar panel supplemental energy supply goes goes. It could be used by an individual property owner able to lower their energy costs. Not the way it’s being done now.
Why are the feds controlling power usage?
In Arizona, we are constantly under “No Burn” restrictions. They always do it around the holidays, when it’s coldest and people actually want to use their wood stoves or fireplaces. But Big Brother says no. You can burn it in July when it’s 150 degrees outside and no one is singing Christmas carols.
Because they can..................
Hopefully they are all Dems with Green Dreams..................
Outlaw wood stoves and you have effectively killed the non-urban parts of the west.
The national election was rigged by Democrat operatives in key counties in the six contested states. It is likely that Trump won the election, and that the Democrat takeover of the Senate was due to the corruption of the electoral process in Georgia. All planned in advance, and with the cooperation of weak Republicans like Governor Kemp and Senator McConnell.
More like: Smoking “let’s let three weeks go by and nobody will give a s**t.”
I have two generators and will be installing heat producing gas logs this week. We will not get caught flat footed like this again.
I burn dry wood and cut it on my own property as do hundreds of thousands of Missourians. Some people with wood furnaces burn green wood because it lasts longer and they're force fed air which keeps it burning. My Fisher wood stove doesn't burn green wood for squat and I can make dry wood last all night. I'll be cutting next year's firewood over the next month or two so it can season for Spring, Summer and Fall. Are they going to measure the emissions coming out of millions of people's stove pipes?
Colorado has already outlawed fireplaces in new homes...................

Anyone with Griddy as their provider would get that quadruple bill.
We installed a wood stove 4 years ago and it heats our entire house. We do not use electric heat pump or the propane furnace any longer in the house unless we have an unusually cold period. Pretty much runs for about 6 months although we have a long shoulder season where we just bring it up to heat with small loads of wood twice a day before letting them burn out.
It is great. If the power goes out our house remains nice and warm.
Wood heat is awesome. I live on 20+ acres so its not as if my neighbors are impacted and considering that we have wildfires out here that top 100k acres the overall contribution of my stove and every other one in the state does not even register, but they are not giving new permits for wood stoves for “air quality”.
“Are they going to measure the emissions coming out of millions of people’s stove pipes?”
What do you think? These are the same people who want to use rectal Covi-19 tests................
Will they pay it?
I think not.......................
I agree with you but the people in key swing states willingly allowed/enabled the fraud that gave the Democrats an artificial edge. They didn’t bother to pressure their legislators to enforce fair elections. As a result, the apathy, indifference and tolerance for corruption gave the Dems the election.
The entire country will be paying a very heavy price for this for a long time to come.
You mean all of this did not happen because Ted Cruz went to Cancun and left his poodle at home?
I am confused.
”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.
