Smoking Gun! Joe Biden’s Dept. of Energy Blocked Texas from Increasing Power Ahead of Killer Storm

A week before, Texas begged for help and asked for DOE to lift federal regulations barring state's energy output.

--------------------------------------------------------

An Emergency Order from the Biden administration’s Department of Energy shows Texas energy grid operator ERCOT was instructed to stay within green energy standards by purchasing energy from outside the state at a higher cost, throttling power output throughout the state ahead of a catastrophic polar vortex.

Going into effect Sunday, Feb. 14, Emergency Order 202-21-1 shows the Energy Dept. was aware of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s statewide disaster declaration and that ERCOT was readying gas utilities in preparation for a demand surge.

The order shows Acting Energy Secretary David Huizenga did not waive environmental restrictions to allow for maximum energy output, instead ordering ERCOT to utilize all resources in order to stay within acceptable emissions standards – including purchasing energy from outside the state.

“ERCOT anticipates that this Order may result in exceedance of emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury, and carbon monoxide emissions, as well as wastewater release limits,” the order states. “To minimize adverse environmental impacts, this Order limits operation of dispatched units to the times and within the parameters determined by ERCOT for reliability purposes.”

Moreover, the order instructed an “incremental amount of restricted capacity” to be sold to ERCOT at “a price no lower than $1,500/MWh,” an increase of over 6,000 percent over February 2020 prices of $18.20.

On Wednesday, the Dallas Business Journal reported, “Electricity on the Texas grid has averaged about $1,137.33 per megawatt hour so far in February, up from $18.20 per megawatt hour in February 2020, according to data from the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas. That’s a jump of more than 6,000 percent.”

Days later, the Public Utility Commission of Texas set prices at $9,000/MWh.

The EO shows the Biden administration basically ordered ERCOT to throttle its energy output by forcing it to comply with environmental green energy standards, while knowing full well Texans could freeze to death in their homes with zero electricity as temperatures plunged into the single digits.

America...this is the new “normal” for the next 4 years. We have an administration that has openly declared war on the United States of America, its Constitution and its population.

Biden and leftists’ push for Green Energy at any cost has caused deaths of Texans and millions in property damage. Federal green energy subsidies are causing reliable energy plant expansion to be reduced even though Texas’ population has increased.

This is a good article from Texas Public Policy Foundation.

As long as real-time prices were above $1,500 a megawatt hour ($1.50 a kilowatt hour), the EPA stuff didn’t matter.

The ERCOT realtime price almost always was within $100 of $9,000 for many days.

A week before, Texas begged for help and asked for DOE to lift federal regulations barring state's energy output.

It's time for the states to just ignore Federal limitations on their energy production. Environmental regs? As the saying goes, I can't find that in my copy of the USC.

Could this be another internet fake story?

How could this have happened unknown to the governor and other high officials?

If known, why did they not over rule?

Why was it not made public in time to avoid shut downs?

Who will go to prison? (Easily answered).

Texans better buy wood stoves. If no access to firewood, buy a Big Buddy. They’re not cheap to run but it’s better than freezing. If nothing else, buy some sleeping bags.

Anything’s better than relying on tptb.

So, it looks like Texas is “All Hat and no Cattle”.

Didn’t ANYONE in the Texas state government have the cajones to tell the DOE/EPA to “pound sand”, and then go full throttle on ALL of their fossil fuel power plants?

This story could be 100% true, but something about this story smells like total BS...

Think about it, how and why are the Texas Energy producers under Federal Control over output, that makes no sense to me ???

Assuming they are, what would be the penalty of defying the Federal Order and increasing power anyway....Would the Feds then order the entire system shutdown ?? IMO, go with the strategy of it’s better to ask for forgiveness instead of permission...

I have not seen it, but I have not seen the Texas Governor screaming to high heaven all over the news about this, in fact I haven’t seen any Texas Republican screaming about this....WHY ??

Like I said, it could be true, but something stinks about this story..

**************

Most of the country is OK with the abuses of an overbearing government. They gave Democrats complete control over the government. Just saying.

What ever happened to:

States’ rights refer to the political rights and powers granted to the states of the United States by the U.S. Constitution. Under the doctrine of states’ rights, the federal government is not allowed to interfere with the powers of the states reserved or implied to them by the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

NOW it is starting to make sense.

Texas refused to join an interstate controlling board, effectively handing over it’s authority to the Feds.

So... Texans had to be taught a lesson.
