Plans to phase out the sale of house coal and wet wood have been confirmed as part of efforts to tackle tiny particle pollutants known as PM2.5, which can penetrate deep into lungs and the blood and cause serious health problems.

“By moving towards the use of cleaner fuels such as dry wood we can all play a part in improving the health of millions of people.”

Bags of logs sold in DIY stores, garden centres and petrol stations often contain wet wood - a type of wood which produces more pollution and smoke.

I burn dry wood and cut it on my own property as do hundreds of thousands of Missourians. Some people with wood furnaces burn green wood because it lasts longer and they're force fed air which keeps it burning. My Fisher wood stove doesn't burn green wood for squat and I can make dry wood last all night. I'll be cutting next year's firewood over the next month or two so it can season for Spring, Summer and Fall. Are they going to measure the emissions coming out of millions of people's stove pipes?

Nope. They'll simply ban them.

But don't worry. I hear those Soviet style apartment blocks are plenty cozy when it gets cold. The Party bureaucrats make sure they stay at just the right temperature and the rules are followed by all.
