Rush said out loud what each of us were always yelling at our televisions when the nightly news narrative would start up.

Rush was the tentpole of the whole talk-radio genre. I think talk radio will now fade down into background noise without him. Podcasts will take over.

Rush’s TV Show was also groundbreaking.

I missed the announcement by Kathryn at the start of the show but was able to find a copy of the whole thing. This was a remarkable tribute... it was laden with profound sadness but Kathryn was poised and graceful beyond measure as she dealt with the issue of ‘who Rush really was to us and more importantly, to her’. Given it was delivered a scant few hours after his passing and provided by Rush’s wife, it was in many ways, one of the most remarkable announcements I can recall.

For others who missed it and would like to listen to her 5 minute tribute, it can be found here...

What a void there will be between 12 and 3 every day. So often I planned appointments around Rush’s show. Back in the 90’s , I was substitute teaching and I would go out to my car when I had no classes so I could listen to Rush. I’ve been a fan since he made his national debut after
His diagnosis and death was difficult because I lost my best friend of 50 years from lung cancer. She too passed after 13 months.

He was unique in being the first person I'd ever heard who used comedy / satire / sarcasm against liberals.

This is method of defeating Amalek -- the useless, dysfunctional, killjoy people who only know how to suck the oxygen out of a room. They hold back accomplishment with red tape, "settled" dogma, baseless accusations, excuses, and needless introspection, and then pile on the doubt while dredging up everyone's every sin since before birth as needed.

No exaggeration, because how many demand soul-crushing guilt for the supposed evil actions of an ancestor from 200 years ago? Accomplishing nothing productive, they get busy spreading paralysis to anyone who even thinks about standing on his own two feet to ditch the shackles.

The Amalekites - the original "woke" (faux-pensive) people who are DOA, because the dead can never take any joke ever.

Rush went far in instructing the people how to defeat the "can't-do" denizens of darkness.

The best way to honor Rush is to pick up that searing comedy torch and charge full speed ahead.

'Mercans are the ingenious Can-Do "Go" people who enjoy success through a better way. It's our ID tag.

There's no competition. :)

Wish Rush wouldn’t have smoked. He’d still be alive. Ugh!!! Will miss him.

>> In the end, was Rush ever wrong in his assessments and predictions? Well, yeah, but he was right some 99.87% of the time (or whatever the running figure was). <<

I think he was right on the money 95% of the time. A lot of FReepers were badmouthing "Operation Chaos" but I think it worked beautifully and did exactly what was it supposed to do... drag out the RAT nomination in 2008 as long as possible and create bitterness against Obama from the Hillary supporters. Two notable times I DISAGREED with him was when he was touting Rick Perry for President, and encouraging Liz Cheney to carpetbag into Wyoming politics (and it appears he recanted on singing Liz Cheney's praises before his death)

His formerly nicotine-stained fingers will never again rustle his show notes in front of the Golden EIB microphone.

I already miss hearing that paper rustle. Thanks to his show, I will always associate "My City was Gone" with Rush.

I was heartbroken over his deafness, and addiction to painkillers.

And he was open about those parts of his life. That is part of why he had such a connection with his audience.

Rush is among giants in Heaven this has been a tough year but I’m guessing Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell will greet our beloved Rush.

Mom loved him. Everyday listener.

“Operation Chaos”

I didn’t see much point in that.

Won’t be another like him. I listened to him beginning when I was a teenager around 1989 or so. Refreshing to hear a voice that wasn’t parroting the deranged leftist propaganda poisoning the rest of the airwaves.

RIP, Mr. Limbaugh.
