The Oregon Department of Education is promoting a program for teachers that seeks to “disman[tle] racism in mathematics,” alleging that focusing on finding the right answer is a symbol of white supremacy.
Fox News reported that the ODE sent out a newsletter last week that mentions a “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course” that will occur on February 21. The course, according to Fox, is designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for ‘dismantling racism in mathematics.’”
The newsletter encourages teachers to sign up for the training, which the New York Post previously reported includes a section with 14 things associated with “White Supremacy Culture,” including perfectionism, objectivity, and individualism.
Objectivity is described the workbook accompanying the training as “the belief that there is such a thing as being objective or ‘neutral.'” The program’s toolkit also encourages teachers not to focus on a single correct answer, but to “come up with at least two answers that might solve this problem” and to “Challenge standardized test questions by getting the ‘right’ answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.”
The toolkit also asks instructors to “center ethnomathematics” in multiple ways, one of which is to “identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.”
Just one more reason why every CEO with half a brain has been pushing for more H1-B visas for decades.
Calc III, differential equations, linear equations are just a different foreign language requirement for engineers and physics. All are directly related to getting someone ready to give a problem to a machine that knows how to solve the given very quickly.
Math and programing now have re joined into something without a name yet, add large data sets there is new field sitting out there that is approachable by everyone, who can think logically. Setting up a problem and letting a computer figure an answer 5-255 different ways across 4 diffrent teams is going to engineering in the future.
The finite analysis on a bridge design happens quicker than the acutechtual render. There is no race in engineering, because the marketing people do not let us out of our cage.
I thought Calc III was generally taught to 1st semester sophs. Well it was when I went to college. If one had to make up two semesters of high school algebra, it would be pushed into junior year.

Ironically, difference is an integral part of equality in our one nation. This is why I believe we can still carry the one to be indivisible, minus these strange times.
We need to have a whole complete false curriculum for them, and more importantly, a separate true one, because if there's only one educational curriculum, it can only be riddled with psychoses when dealing with the mentally deranged.

I met a black man like that. One day, while in school, he looked around him and saw his only way out of poverty was education. So he applied himself, graduated, joined the Navy and was put on Nuclear subs.
Upon his discharge he was grabbed up by a Power plant startup firm and had been all over the world starting up power plants.
Everyone who met him respected him.

Quit trying to divide us. This is clearly a sine from above that just doesn’t square with reality.
It is integral we associate positively if we want to have unity. It is infinitely better we not lose our roots - not even nominally.
