An 18-year-old Texas man tipped off the FBI about his father’s role in the US Capitol riot — and said he’d do it again.
Jackson Reffitt — whose dad Guy Reffitt was charged last week in the Jan. 6 siege — told local outlet Fox4 that he acted out of moral obligation.
“It was my moral compass.. to do what I thought would protect not only my family, but my dad himself,” he said.
“I would do it again.”
The elder Reffitt, of Wylie, had allegedly threatened his son and daughter saying: “If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors … traitors get shot,” court papers state.
His son told the TV station, “I took that as a threat, but I never thought he would act upon it.”
Reffitt said that his dad is part of a far-right militia group and that he has embraced increasingly radicalized views over the years.
He was concerned about what would happen when law enforcement came to arrest his father, saying, “The police could’ve come in at any time, at a bad time, regardless of the situation and my dad could’ve opened fire.”
Calling the FBI, “wasn’t just because I think my dad is aggressive,” Reffitt said. “I think what he’s been manipulated into thinking is aggressive.”
He also recalled the moment he learned his father was at the siege.
“I think it was FOX playing, and it was just live screening of riots at the Capitol, and the rushing in, and my mom said your dad is there,” Reffitt said.
Guy Reffitt, 48, was tracked down by federal authorities after footage of him at the Capitol during the riot was played on YouTube and on Fox News on the day of the siege, according to court...

I’d turn in a family member if he were BLM/Antifa, etc., In a heartbeat. But they’re actually destructive. Quite different from a peaceful protester.
.
.
turn them into who? The FBI so they can give them a medal for job well done?
You’ve got a point. I guess I have to re-think this.
Traitor Joe’s first presidential medal of freedom winner.
Even when I was a teen, I would have helped my Dad get rid of a body if needed. No doubt.
Do people actually believe these propaganda stories? I think it’s all made-up BS.
The dad is stupid, but family is family and his son is a brainwashed as$hole.
Yeah. That would be it for me. I’d cut the brainwashed little Nazi traitor out of my life and my will and would never speak to nor have anything to do with him ever again.
Oh horrors of horrors—the news reader made sure that we all know that when the FBI searched the man’s home they found TWO GUNS—one was a pistol that he took to DC with him. Apparently he tried to comply with the gun laws when he did.
Mom and dad must have good sources of income because they appear to live in a very nice house in a very nice neighborhood. Now that dad has been exposed will he be fired from his job? Will this girlie-boy of a son be able to get a job that will provide enough income to replace dad’s so that the family won’t have to move or worse lose their home?
The FBI have been watching dad for some time. Yeah, and that same FBI lied to the FISA court multiple times, ignored the fact that Hillary Clinton destroyed emails, laptops and phones that were under subpoena, had Hunter Biden’s laptop in their possession for a year and never said a word, had a voluminous file on the Seth Rich murder and denied it for five years, etc. Yet has the FBI ever had their eyes on Antifa or BLM as they destroyed property (both government and state0 worth millions of dollars?
This apparently has not ever been violent nor destroyed any property in pursuit of what he believes in, but his girlie-boy son is afraid of what he might do so he rats on his dad.
He has destroyed his family and himself. We all learn very early in kindergarten that nobody likes a tattletale.
Well I tell you what I haven’t done: finding myself in a precarious position I didn’t make my situation infinitely worse by stupidly issuing criminal threats, that’s what I didn’t do
Jackson Reffitt, Hero of the Soviet Union. Welcome to 1984.
he wouldn’t be living under my roof anymore
Brother vs. brother was more prevalent in the Border states and to an extent the Upper South like East Tennessee and North Texas, and also the Southern settled areas of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. In places like Mississippi or Maine, not so much. This time, it looks like most of white and rural America is conservative. The old Yankee/Rebel and Catholic/Protestant/Mormon/skeptic divisions have faded among rural whites. It is the suburban areas and among Hispanics that we will see the brother vs. brother scenario replayed. Urban America and the college and resort towns are solidly leftist. However, places like Jackson, Wyoming or Jefferson City, Missouri are the equivalent of Fort Apache. Ditto for conservative enclaves like Staten Island, New York or Orange County, California.
Good little Commie. I think of that Russian boy who turned his Grandfather in to the Stalinist murderers because he had “impure thoughts” against the regime.
Well... Seriously threatening to shoot a family member for almost any reason is likely to land one in trouble.
As far as hypothetical (at this point) involvement in DC goes, what would you say if “Dad” is on camera following a crowd overrunning a barrier and he goes into the Capitol building?
I would say that he’s no longer exercising his first Amendment rights and is taking part of a riot.
If he’s taking part in the riot, he should be charged with what can be proven.
“Good morning class. Now that mommy and daddy have gone to work and left you online for class it is time to play “what’s in the closet.”. You all have 15 minutes to find anything you can and show it to the webcam. Remember, if you see something, say something.”

Honestly I don’t know why you insist on being so obtuse about this. I have zero problem with him participating in the protest. But he KNOWS that his 18 year old is a self-righteous prig, and yet he goes and makes a threat that, here in California where I’ve been a member of the bar for closing in on thirty years, would buy him a restraining order. Making the remark about shooting traitors is all I’ve ever criticized him for and I’ll stand by it.
Here goes:
My dear FRiends, here’s some free legal advice from an experienced lawyer: if you’re in dispute with a family member, even if you’re in the right, don’t threaten to shoot them. Doing so could cause you legal problems.
You’re a lawyer?
