On Dec. 8, a French cryptocurrency account transferred 28.15 bitcoins, or more than $500,000, to 22 different virtual accounts belonging to prominent right-wing activists and Trump supporters, according to evidence found by researchers at the software company Chainalysis.

that’s why I don’t get the lumping in. Trump and his supporters have repeatedly disavowed extremist groups. If the FBI knew about all this before the rally, why were requests for security, by Trump and by Capitol police beforehand turned down?

Even if true, so what? I guess money is supposed to be transferred through left-leaning NGOs and Democrat-aligned law firms like Perkins Coie to be legit, right?

Yeah, I agreed to accept part of a payment from a client in crypto. The project was crypto-related, so I let them talk me into a small amount. Now I wish I had taken the whole thing that way.

The whole point of using a cryptographically secure blockchain ledger is traceability of every single transaction. It is fantasy to expect anonymity. As tools are built to navigate the ledger, all of your business is on display. The ledger is replicated and validated so that it can't be tampered without detection.
Gee, they can track bitcoins from France to the U.S., but they can’t track the same bitcoins being sent from Langley, VA to France?

I thought the whole point of bitcoins was to prevent anyone from knowing who who made payments, and who received payments.
