Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.
A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.
Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.
"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."
Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

I wonder if he would have shot Alyssa Milano or any of the other women who ‘stormed’ heroically thru the Dirksen office building to protest Kavanaugh before they were arrested.
nope- all the cops were already upstairs and some were on the stairs below the landing- they all turned when they heard the gunshot and were surprised to see her just drop back onto the floor.
If all they did was arrest her it could still be said that it was extremely unwise for her to be there doing what she was doing.
Time to un-elect this cowardly fool. Only two people at the best of times could get thru the gallery down (I’ve been there) and the police inside had it blocked with a large piece of furniture. Plus other police were nearby, outside the door, next to the protestors.
Bad shoot! Probably lawsuits at the least. Prosecution at the most. Oh wait, Barr is gone as are some of his top staff. Terwiliger (a good guy) is retiring in days (for other reasons already announced. IF this becomes an FBI investigation, would you trust Dir. Wray it it? I wouldn’t trust him with my dead cat.
It would have to be the US DA for the District of Columbia. Otherwise it might, at a stretch, being the white-hating DA for the District of Columbia, Racine, a nasty POS on his best day and a Trump-hater par excellent.
A stupid tragedy all around, which the Left wanted and got.
sorry...she is a he - eye witness

He was wear a black cloth mask .
If he wasn't wearing that cloth mask to protect against the Covid virus like everybody else is, then it's either a bizarre fashion statement or something more sinister.........LOL!
FWIW, I have a black mask just like that one and I call it my Covid mask. I could not care less what you call yours.......
Ashli
Grk: Witness, martyr
A very stupid analogy: you must be one of those unfortunates at the lower end of human intelligence. Ashli was murdered in the People's House by a "servant of the people", while she was unarmed.
Try to use spoons only while you eat, to avoid hurting yourself.
And when the perp is found not guilty; we honkies will RIOT! and burn up much stuff in major cities around the country; right?
A year ago, in banks and credit unions, wearing those masks was done by people making undocumented withdrawals.
Fuck you Mullns and all the other traitors
Let’s thin out his colleagues in 2022.
—
That only works if the Dems approve of them in advance of the election. Which they will not - many of his colleagues will be replaced by Dems via more rigged elections.
It won’t be necessary to vote because the Dems will manufacture as many as needed - if the actual GOP vote falls to low, they will just make more for appearances sake.

Well there goes the “I panicked in the heat of the moment” defense. The cop? clearly planned to use deadly force when he had the opportunity. It was a premeditated assassination.
Anyone who sees the video in this thread and thinks that the shooter or the people he was “protecting” were in imminent danger is a fool.
LOL!
Your point of view, while it sounds all reasonable and sweet with sugar on top is actually way off the mark. Look closely at the video. In the background there are people walking calmly across the hall. Obviously they didn’t feel endangered. There also was a group of law enforcement officers immediately behind the woman. The dude who killed her crept forward from his hiding place and aimed, then took an extra step or two closer to the woman and fired. It was murder, plain and simple.
I would say the same thing.
At some point all of those cell phones need to be firearms.
I get that. I’m talking about what will be presented in a court of law and the evidence at hand. Based on what is in the videos I’ve seen, the things you’ve called out, and the things I’ve called out, and I don’t see any prosecution surviving against that guy. If it was me and the facts were exactly the same, except the crowd was antifa or BLM, I would have been within my rights to shoot the one illegally climbing and crashing through the broken window. And I would have shot to kill.
I’m not saying he should have done it. I’m saying that as a human being - not a machine - it is reasonable to do what he did.
