Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.
A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.
Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.
"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."
Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

the shooter literally came from the left hallway (directly behind the door) on the other side of the door...the shooter was in ZERO danger. He came out of the side hallway, walked up to her and shot her point blank as she was still trying to get thru the window. There is no way this was not murder.
She was surrounded on her side of the door with like 6 cops who clearly were allowing her to crawl thru the window because if they wanted to stop her all they had to do was reach up and pull her down. They were standing there like a foot away BEFORE she was shot!
It sure don't work that way for the average citizen..!
I watched a replay of today’s episode of “The Five” on YouTube. From what I can see no one on The Five mentioned Ashli Babbitt. I guess no one The Five has access to Twitter to watch the videos we did, and certainly did not have the guts to talk about it. Faux News.

I hear Babbit was armed with a copy of the United States constitution. Can’t have crap like that in the United States Capitol.

I am in a profession that has a use of force continuum, and rules for using force.
We have to, when possible, use our words then our hands then fists or feet then pepper spray or tasers....less lethal....de-escalate when feasible.
Deadly force is only reasonable when one is facing an imminent risk of death or grave bodily injury to themselves or another.
How is one unarmed lady crawling through that window a threat if imminent death or grave bodily injury?
That was totally unjustified and will never be charged because of the politics.

At the Kavanaugh hearings they crowded the hallways and every now and then someone would push their way in to the actual hearing room. Funny.... nobody pulled a weapon on ‘em.
