Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) on Sunday urged President Trump to sign the coronavirus aid package that has passed Congress, warning the president’s legacy is at stake.
“You don’t get everything you want, even if you’re president of the United States,” Toomey said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I think the COVID relief measures are really, really important.”
“In my state, as in many other states, we have governors who are closing down businesses again,” he added.
Toomey called it a “hopeful sign” that Trump has not yet vetoed the bill passed by Congress, even as he has demanded larger direct payments of $2,000 to Americans.
The Pennsylvania senator suggested that the president was thinking of his legacy with the demand but said that “he’ll be remembered for chaos and misery and erratic behavior if he allows this to expire.”
“I understand the president would like to send bigger checks to everybody. ... I think what he ought to do is sign this bill and then make the case,” Toomey said. “I don’t agree with $2,000 to people who have had no lost income whatsoever, but the president’s free to make that case.”
Asked about Trump’s recent round of presidential pardons, Toomey said former national security adviser Michael Flynn was the victim of prosecutorial misconduct and that it was “perfectly legitimate to pardon him.”
However, he said that in “some of these other cases we have tax fraud, bank fraud, witness tampering, obstruction of justice,” in an apparent reference to former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Toomey compared the pardons to former President Clinton’s pardon of financier and Democratic donor Marc Rich.
“It is legal, it is constitutional, but I think it’s a misuse of the power,” Toomey said.

if you watched his speech the other day - he was talking about the Covid Bill and why it was unacceptable

was just read all of the crazy provisions about counting fISHES giving money to Pakistan and the Palis. and i just thought.
What other person would ever have the guts to just sit there and point out the incredible hypocrisy of a 5783 page Bill. How RIDICULOUS it is !

“Would Trump favor this same exact bill with all the extraneous spending if it also included $2000 checks?”
Probably, a lot of the extraneous spending has to be cut from whatever the balance that is left after the $2000 checks are cut.

Yeah giving BILLIONS of dollars to foreign countries most people cant find on a damn map, yeah its all Trump’s fault..ya know, for Congress critters and Senators to always claim America doesn’t have the money to pay for things, they sure have no problem finding BILLIONS to give to crap countries no one gives two sh*ts about..and of course millions to the Kennedy Center, who Pelosi’s best buddy is on the board, yeah that’s called a quid pro quo

Amen! So-called Covid relief bill is impossible to take serious when we’re sending millions overseas, some of for some incredibly stupid things.
I don’t think he would sign it. He’s already vetoed the defense spending bill, which he never would have done in a million years before Election Day.
But he IS...when it comes to sending money to The People.
But money to defense contractors, defense and spy agency-partner corporations (dozens in Virginia alone...$56 billion of the bill), troops they are forcing Trump to keep in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Germany and South Korea, and foreign aid? Then "The Deficit" ceases to exist.
Nope. I voted for Trump, and no one else.

Pat Toomey is allowed to be a Senator in PA because the dem party bosses in Pittsburgh and Philly allow it. They would crank up the fraud engine if they weren’t okay with him. He’s a dem approved uniparty hack.
The Tea Party was almost instantly infiltrated and subverted.
