A NEW Covid strain which may spread even quicker is ripping through the South - as Matt Hancock last night plunged 11million more Brits into Tier 3.
The Health Secretary told MPs more than 1,000 cases of the new "variant" has been discovered in up to 60 places across the UK - and the World Health Organisation has been informed.

London and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire will move into Tier 3 from midnight tonight.
It now means 34million people - 61 per cent of the population - will face the toughest rules.
Brits in those areas can't see friends and family they don't live with indoors or outdoors - unless they are in a support bubble.
But shops, gyms and schools will remain open.
Pubs and restaurants will be forced to shut, except for takeaway and delivery.
Mr Hancock last night urged Londoners to follow the example of Liverpool and Manchester to drive the virus down again.

In a bombshell announcement, Mr Hancock said the mutation was spreading at a quicker pace than the original virus.
But experts stressed that the new strain was not the cause of the tier changes.
Mr Hancock said: "We have identified a new variant of coronavirus which may be associated with the faster spread in South East England.
"It is growing faster than existing variants, with over 1,000 cases.
He told the Commons: "Initial analysis suggests that this variant is growing faster than the existing variants."
There are over 60 areas affected, which is "growing rapidly" and similar strains have been identified in other countries, he said.
He added: "We've seen very sharp exponential rises of the virus across London, Kent parts of Essex and Hertfordshire.
"We must take fast and decisive action."
How convenient!
I said this during the summer.. that this might be a good time to get it when the hospitals are empty, and the strain seems fairly mild.
It’s a cold virus. They mutate, which has why there has never been a cold (coronavirus) vaccine. No big deal.
And who caused the mutation . . . the reactions of governments to slow the spread . . . let it run its course . . . how stupid must this get!!!

If this article is true, a mutation is a new virus capable of infecting anew.
Of course the first law of mutation is more virulent but less severe in generational succession. It’s why it tends to be selected because it lives to get the next host without killing the original host.
It is amazing that basic biology is no longer understood
I read somewhere that when organisms mutate, they get weaker. Don’t know if that is true.

Only 12-20% of colds are caused by one of the four viruses in the coronavirus family that cause colds. Rhinoviruses cause about 40% of colds. In all, there are over 200 different viruses that cause the symptoms we collectively refer to as the “common cold”.
And THAT is why there’s no cold vaccine: it’d have to work against over 200 different viruses all at once. And nobody’s going to pay $20,000 to avoid getting a cold. So nobody’s going to develop a cold vaccine.
The vaccines were developed for the previous strain. If there’s a new strain the vaccines will not work and may make you more vulnerable to the new strain.
The lockdowns are going to be permanent.
Actually, the more people that get infected, the more opportunity the virus has to mutate. Each copy made is an opportunity for a random error in the copy that’s beneficial to the virus. Each infected person produces quadrillions of copies.
