American B-52s, the massive strategic bombers, arrived in the Middle East on Saturday. They are part of the Fifth Bomb Wing at Minot AFB in North Dakota.
These veteran, giant aircraft were last deployed in the region in May 2019 and the US Central Command says they are here to “deter aggression and reassure US partners and allies.”
The B-52s have been sent to the region as the US appears to be drawing down forces in Iraq. The Pentagon has said that hundreds of troops are leaving Iraq and Afghanistan.
As the US seeks to end twenty years of involvement in Afghanistan, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Taliban officials this weekend, an interesting change of US policy from years ago, when the US was at war with them. But the US may soon be claiming to work with Taliban “moderates” against Afghan extremists, or hand Kabul back to the Taliban.

Hell, he should do that even if Biden doesn't take office. (Hyperbole is a high art.)
When I was in the Air Force it wasn’t all that rare to go TDY (Temporary Duty) from time to time.
Also, if Biden becomes President and returns to Obama’s policy of helping Iran with their nuclear program, Israel might feel compelled to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities before they have a completed bomb. At least they’d be in place and ready to help in the unlikely event that Biden would authorize them to help.
The B-52 annoys the heck out of the Air Force. As of last year, they only cost $61.3m per aircraft, their maintenance is low cost, and they don’t even need climate controlled hangars.
While they wouldn’t be so hot in a high tech war, 99% of war today is still low tech. And the B-52 is a reliable work horse.
To break things and kill bad people?
To circle around and distract Iran air defenses from the incoming B-2 Stealth bombers.
It’s called deception. Like having Patton walk around a bunch of rubber tanks.

IMO, this is just a warning, if/when Biden takes over, this move is a signal to anyone, don’t screw around during a change in power otherwise they’re consequences to pay.

Two possible reasons: Protect the draw down of forces in Afghanistan. And more likely: They can carry the new Hypersonic Weapon Trump mentioned several times. Can hold Iranian underground nuclear facilities at risk (along with anything else the President wants to go away).

Because when Biden announced that he was now President Elect Iran announced the gloves were coming off with the USA.
The MSM declined reporting on it.
Maybe the never Trumper Generals are following Biden’s orders already.
