He walked away from iconic role at 41 but continued to flourish, disproving Hollywood snipers who predicted nobody would hire a balding, middle-aged actor with a funny accent.

Good actor but his native Scotland has devolved into a very weird place.

There were two times that I know of in movie history where an actor ended up lessening his career by not taking on a role. The first was when Bela Lugosi was offered the role of Frankenstein’s monster and refused; the role went to Boris Karloff, with Karloff’s career soaring and Lugosi’s declining. The second was when Adam West was offered the role of 007 and refused; the role went to Sean Connery, with Connery’s career soaring and West’s declining.

One of my favorite roles of Connery was in "The Rock." He had an understated presence that just carried the film.
Another film was "Finding Forrester." He is a mentor to a black kid who aspires to be a writer. There's a scene where Connery gets drunk and starts talking black. LOL

People liked him, what’s the difference if it’s 7 or 70 articles?

the original James BondSays something about public literacy that the publisher feels compelled to put this in a headline.
The really sad thing is that Bond films used to be hilarious, right up to the point that they became woke.

The Rock is a favorite movie as well.

"One of my favorite roles of Connery was in "The Rock." He had an understated presence that just carried the film." Unlike many, I like Nicolas Cage and thought his chemistry with Connery in that film was great. My favorite all time Connery film, and perhaps my favorite all time film if pressed to name just one, is, "The Man Who Would Be King."
Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer in a story by Kipling, directed by John Houston. One would be hard-pressed to come up with a greater formula for success.

The second was when Adam West was offered the role of 007 and refused; I never heard that before. Now I've go the Batman theme in my head as a Bond theme:
James Bond, James Bond, James Bond, James Bond!
[etc. etc.]
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
James Bond!
With all of the "Biff!" "Pow!" and "Grunt!" sound bubbles over the Bond girl scenes.
