yeah i see that- I never really cared for piper- McCartur is ok, but i don’t go for that lordship salvation stuff- I think it’s unbiblical- but what he teaches is usually very solid- piper i don’t really know too much about
Piper lost me on gender stuff. John MacArthur is no feminist but he isn’t so averse to women playing a wide variety of roles in life and in the kingdom.

I was born Protestant but, for about two years, I have been studying Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. I admit to despising Pope Francis, but I love the Catholic Church.
I have taken notice at how some freepers absolutely worship John Piper. Personally, I despise the idea of “Superstar” preachers such as Piper. For example, my mom practically worships John Hagee. I’m no fan of Hagee but I dare not express that fact because, if I do, my mother will become hysterical and tell me that I’m going to Hell.

What they emphasize about Christ, and the different ways each put the faith into practice and offer a window into the Kingdom. — Like appreciating all the different traditions of music for example! John MacArthur is a good friend of John Piper. Personally, I deeply respect both men. Both are reformed theologians, and while I don’t subscribe to these views entirely, they seem better than most alternative forms of systematic theology.
Piper seems to be attributing “sins of unrepentant sexual immorality (porneia), unrepentant boastfulness (alazoneia), unrepentant vulgarity (aischrologia), unrepentant factiousness (dichostasiai)” to President Trump.
Piper also makes it clear that he is not trying to dictate his decision to anyone else, but I think he would have done better to simply keep it to himself.
The sins listed here are indeed Biblical, but how are they disqualifying for public office? Certainly I would not be looking for a man like Donald Trump to fill the role of ideal pastor. On the other hand, I would not consider John Piper or John MacArthur to be ideal for the job of president either.
Further, factiousness is sinful in the context of church, not politics. Otherwise, being pro-life and pro-family would be a sin, which is ridiculous. And how would John Piper know if President Trump is unrepentant of sexual immorality? He might have very well confessed his private sins to God in private.
I am very disappointed in John Piper’s public position on this matter.
I think this election is about more than the US. I think God wants to slow the advance of socialism and globalism, to gve the nation’s more time before the antichrist arrives. Remember Reagan and the fall of the iron curtain. Millions were freed from communism. There is a move afoot in China to overthrow the CCP. I believe Trump is and will help facilitate that with various policies including economic. I was so impressed after hearing Mike Pompeo talk about his and the presidents efforts to meet with Asian and other nations about religious freedom for their people. Lastly, we are seeing peace on the table again in the middle east in ways we haven’t seen it before thanks to a number of factors including that we are no longer dependent on them for oil. All of these efforts will cease if democrat Biden is elected. God is using this rough talking soft hearted unruly man to take down massive strongholds the corrupt have built. Should he have to talk sweetly and say pretty please to the evil ones to please John Piper?
Except most who support Biden don't even know what his policies are other than those they uncritically hear of on CBS/ABC/NBC/PBS/CNN/MSNBC.
I saw an excellent comment on this kind of thinking on Instapundit: Christians who won’t support Trump because he sinned in the past had better hope that God doesn’t have the same policy toward them.

God. Knows the end from the beginning and all. In between. Men like Piper aave not a clue regarding GOD choosing David knowing the sin(s) in David’s future. By Piper’s reasoning God made a mistake! Piper is working for the wring side in this. I wonde, in what other areas of his reasoning is he so far away from ‘the mind of God’?

Good. Then John Piper is no pope and these celebrity preachers shouldn’t hold such outsized influence.
