52 yes votes to confirm is all that matters. I guess the Dems are getting their little drama in a la John McCain with his thumbs down. Once she had 51 votes, there should’ve been a 30 second warning and then time was up.

My mother was very interested in politics and she always wanted them to have to do 1 -2- 3 vote all At once ....... using something at sitting at their desks. That way they would not be playing games with who had voted already or, in this instance, for dramatic effect.

It's worse than childish. In ancient Rome, the "thumbs down" was the way the rulers signified that a losing gladiator was to be killed in the arena rather than being spared.

In this case, the Rats may very well be signaling that they want Barrett killed.
