Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) this evening announced that the hearing to consider the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to serve as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States will begin October 12, 2020.
The hearing will last three to four days, using the format the committee has followed for recent Supreme Court nominees. Opening statements by Judiciary Committee members and the nominee will occur on Monday, October 12. The questioning of Judge Barrett will begin on Tuesday, October 13. Testimony by those who know Judge Barrett the best and legal experts is expected to follow.

I hope she gets confirmed before she turns left /half joking.
Oh bullshit, Eeyore.
Theres time. Just giving the Dems enough rope to hang themselves.
They are in a lose lose situation. If they don’t fight hard their base will feel betrayed and may not turn out to vote.
But if they fight too hard they will alienate women and Catholics. The dumbocrats are toast. They don’t know what to do.
I like the schedule. Lets spend a couple of weeks talking about what an exceptional nominee Barrett is, giving Biden, Harris, and the others every opportunity to disgrace themselves. Then have the hearings. The GOP looks brilliant and honorable. The Rats look crazy and evil. Then say, Take it away,Cocaine Mitch! We have the triumphant vote and then the big glorious swearing-in right before Election Day. This dominates the news for the next month. Positive, triumphant, forward-looking. This totally works for me.

Good post.
so now we can just wonder what kind of story one of the dems will create, just like with what they did to Kavanaugh.
I have been wondering that. Somehow I think attacking someone who adopted a down syndrome child from Haiti will backfire. It takes a special kind of person to do something like that.
“So, I think Graham understands he has to go forward and get it done.”
You better believe there is a political calculation going on here. I suspect getting it as close to the end of October (the 29th has been previously bandied about) gives the Dems no time to pontificate or rant about other than the ongoing hearings right up the very end. No more talk about impeachment, no good chance for an October surprise that will stick while the hearings are continuing, and the punchline (the vote for Judge Amy) comes just 4 days before the election. And the public will be focusing on celebrating Halloween at the very end of the month anyway.
No real chance for shenanigans by the Dems as it will be all hearings all the time. It’s called running out the clock. The Dems will be hysterical the whole time and hopefully, in their tither, they will slip up and attack Judge Barrett too vociferously, thus showing their true evil rotten personalities to the watching public.
The only thing I know that’s out there that they could attack Trump on would be his tax records the New York DA is trying desperately to get his hands on before the election. A NY Circuit Court Judge approved the release of the documents. It just went before a NY Appeals Court Judge and they played the proceeding requesting the tax records on C-Span. I watched some of it.
It is obvious that this NY Jewish Dem Judge is going to allow the records to be produced; however, I am certain this decision would immediately be appealed up to the Supreme Court. If the NY Supreme Court agrees with the Circuit Court and Appeals level Judges, and as they are almost if not all Dems on the SC, then they too will allow the tax returns to be given to the NY DA.
The question is, can this SC decision then be switched over to the federal courts and worked up the ladder on the federal level, thus playing out the judicial clock. Or does the buck stop with the NY Supreme Court. It’s a race to the very end as to whether Trump’s tax returns will be outed before the election. You know the Dems will make as much hay as they can picking through the returns and will scream that Trump should be brought up on charges of alleged over-inflation as to the value of his properties for tax purposes (to lower his tax burden). However, even that scenario, I maintain, will not be able to cut through the noise of voting to place Judge Amy Barrett on the Supreme Court.
Not enough days left to cause Prez Trump serious problems regarding his tax returns, which will look miniscule in comparison to the vote to put Judge Barrett on the Supreme Court that will take place late in the game. And then a few days later, we vote. And Trump wins, I suspect by a landslide.
Neither did Kavanaugh. Keep your nose clean, and it is amazing how vicious the response is.
Just vote already! If the Dems delay this by even a couple of days it’s over. She will not be in before election day, and we may need her. You better believe the Democrats know this and will do everything they can, including getting their thugs to shut down access to the capital and the chamber if they have to.
“Idiots they are going to screw around and give the rats the means to push the vote past Election Day which probably kill whatever Chance Trump has.”
trollin’, trollin’, trollin’ ...
“Its Graham. Hes going to allow the DEMs to cripple Barrett during the confirmation process.”

“Somehow I think attacking someone who adopted a down syndrome child from Haiti will backfire. It takes a special kind of person to do something like that.”
The Barrett’s adopted their 2 Black kids from Haiti. The Downs Syndrome child was the last child the Barrett’s had biologically. In fact, I have a theory. They conceived their last child while both of them were older; a risky proposition as many of the babies born to older parents risk having Downs Syndrome.
I suspect they did not want to take a risk having another natural pregnancy where the odds of having another Down’s Syndrome baby was great, and thus pursued another avenue, namely adoption. Hence their adoption of the 2 children from Haiti. Just a theory, but I bet I’m close to the truth here.
I have a question for the legal experts out there (I think there might be a few of you. haha ) If she is confirmed after the election, as long as she’s confirmed before any issue regarding the election reaches the USSC, can she still be part of the ruling on it? (I’m assuming it would take a week or two before any case on the election would reach the supreme court.)
Flimsey Grahamnesty is giving the Democrats too much time to gin up smears.
The hearings should have been next week.
They’ll be smearing Trump. The SCOTUS nominee is just a prop. Graham is running out the clock on his coup “investigation”, too.
oh ok thanks! i thought the youngest was the black boy.
so the kids from Haiti were older when they got them then
Someone on the committee will come down with Covid and we’ll have to wait for our friend from across the aisle to get better..adjourned till Nov 1st.
I think the reason for the delay is so senators who wish to can meet with Barret for one-on-one discussions. Pretty much SOP. I’m not worried. There will be a vote before Nov 3
It will force kamala to be in DC if she wants to vote.
Or better yet, for several days if she wants to be active in the hearings
