Carmen Best, the Seattle police chief, emailed her resignation notice to police officers in the department late Monday hours after the City Council made good on its promise to approve sweeping proposals that would cut about 100 officers and slash the departments budget.
Bests email, which was obtained by Jason Rantz, a radio host in the city, said that her retirement will be effective Sept. 2.
I wanted you to hear this from me, but some media have reached this conclusion on their own, she wrote. This was a difficult decision for me, but when its time, its time.

Get out of town before the abyss fully opens
they are firing a huge number of black officers, since the firings are based on seniority and most of hires for the past several years were diverse...
Hell, she may have been the only damned effective senior person in Seattles government. She gave it her best but the Seattle leadership is bound and determined to make the city into a cesspool.
The cut in salary is incentive enough to retire while she is at peak earnings.
It should be patently obvious what is going on. The revolutionaries know that getting rid of city police forces is their path to victory.
Therefore they have basically declared war on the police. They are pursuing this war on a propaganda level, a political level, and on a kinetic level. They are winning.
If you have property or a business in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, or Minneapolis sell and get out while you still can. The citizens of these cities have lost the political will to elect representatives who will fight the forces of anarchy. These cities are lost.
Team Trump should find her a position.
She seems honest and capable and it would be a great move in response to pasty white leftwing Seattle driving a black women out of her job.
I initially thought so too, but then I read the article and some of the PC quotes from the resignation e-mail. Blecchh.
The attack on and decline of municipal police forces will have damaging effects throughout the country. As in New York in the 1980s, it will take the emergence of a coalition between conservatives and pragmatists to counter the emergent radical Marxist and identity based urban movement that is seizing control of major US cities.
One imagines a scenario maybe not in Seattlewhere the populace blocks that path.
With vigor.
Firing by race (the protestors wanted all white officers fired) is illegal so it has to be by senority. The SPD would be firing more white, hispanic and asian officers than black.
A 50% reduction in forces would result in less diversity by:
65% hispanic
53% white
47% asian
43% black and islander
26% indian
The anarchists want lower wages and wage caps for the remaining force. They are wage-jealous of $100K/hr for a 8yr officer.
Seattle has spent over $1Billion every year for 5 years on homeless and indigent programs. That’s $100K for every man woman and child in the entire county. Rather than attack the police dept funding, maybe somebody should be asking the city council and ‘the community’ where that $5Billion went ?
Her retirement is based on her hiqghest average salary. They cut her salary so she is only lowering her retirement if she stays, plus she still has time to retire from another department if she can get vested in 5 years.
Therefore they have basically declared war on the police. They are pursuing this war on a propaganda level, a political level, and on a kinetic level. They are winning.
The left wins elections by apathy as much as they win by their lies. With a bias media to cover for them they can move their agenda along in relatively secret way...however, firing your police and allowing mobs to run free tend to get noticed, even if the media tries to cover it up.
The City Council should enjoy this moment because this may be the high point in their career because their action is going end it (their careers) when the people have had enough.
And, announcing retirement BEFORE the city cuts her pay freezes her pension at the higher pay.
Rats leaving the ship.

They looked to me to be run of the mill for release to the press platitudes.
She seems to be a good cop. She will have no problem getting a job in a decent, well-run city.
I saw her interviewed on Fox a few days ago — Ingraham, I think. She seemed like a good cop to me — sane and caring about doing the right thing.
Urban areas get all of the press. My town of 16K is looking at demands for the Mayors resignation and demotion of the Police Chief, among other demands. The Chief is probably close enough to retirement to make a decision similar to Chief Bests choice. We had a BLM rally in town Saturday..Folks out of Portland were brought in.
Cities will come back when law and order and sanity come back until then its an American SH##HOLE
