The Minneapolis Police Department is advising residents of the city to “Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet” if approached by robbers, and “Do not argue or fight with the criminal. Do as they say.”
The “robbery prevention tips” were circulated by the department and reported by local ABC affiliate KSTP-5. They advise that the city is suffering an increase in robberies and carjackings, especially in the 3rd Precinct — the area of the city in which George Floyd was killed in police custody on Memorial Day, and rioters destroyed police headquarters.

Other cities have reported dramatic increases in crime, including shootings and murders, since the Black Lives Matter protests and riots erupted.
One Minneapolis resident who refused to give in without a fight was 99-year-old Evelyn Johnson, who fought with an intruder: “”He thought he was just going to cover my mouth and smother me, but that didn’t happen. I fought him. We wrestled for quite a while, according to all my bruises,” she told KSTP.

The only thing the residents should give muggers, carjackers, etc. is their ammo at 1500 ft./sec.

City Council backpedaled on defunding the department. Probably got an earful from the residents, I think it was all virtue signal stunt.
They will rearrange some deck chairs, fire some important police office staff, and come out with some 15k publication to cya themselves and call it “change.”

If you follow local chatter....most of this crime is within a 3 mile circle of the former 3rd Police Precinct station (4 miles north of the airport).
It would appear that the city is pulling back assets out of the area, and just marginally patrolling the area. I would suggest that most business operations in the circle will give up by summer of next year, and it becomes like Detroit.
For the remainder of the city....it wouldn’t shock me if militia groups started to form, and homeowners stock up on weapons.

if anyone asks me for assistance or food money I always try to provide something (as my parents taught me to do). if it looks like I can really help them in some serious way, like with medical or job search or housing, I am happy to to at least try to contribute more time money and energy (its difficult, at least I have found it so, since so many of these people have psychiatric, sociopathic, and/or drug or alcoholic addictions... I lack the skills to deal with any of these kinds of issues, alas)
