if anyone asks me for assistance or food money I always try to provide something (as my parents taught me to do). if it looks like I can really help them in some serious way, like with medical or job search or housing, I am happy to to at least try to contribute more time money and energy (its difficult, at least I have found it so, since so many of these people have psychiatric, sociopathic, and/or drug or alcoholic addictions... I lack the skills to deal with any of these kinds of issues, alas)

Unlike what Joel B.Pollock is reporting it's been increases across the board - NOT just in shootings and murders.
Democrat mayors have a history of telling their police chiefs to lie about crime... and the chiefs do it because the mayor's BS story is big companies won't choose their city to relocate to if they think crime rates are high.
The ONLY numbers that aren't lied about in hellholes is murder, shootings and injuries that require hospitalization - BECAUSE THOSE STATISTICS CAN'T BE LIED ABOUT easily.
There was a time when they exhorted people to obey the law, not the criminal.
LAPD here in Los Angeles has been doing this for Years, hell they even Put up Signs on the Streets telling you such.

If one is not armed and the robber is, that’s good advice in any city in America.
But if you are armed, pull and shoot at the very first sight of a gun, even if the perp has the drop on you.
9 times out of 10 the perp will be shocked and hesitate.
