President Trump announced from the White House Thursday afternoon the RNC convention in Jacksonville has been canceled.
Citing the ongoing battle against Wuhan coronavirus, President Trump said it is his duty to protect the American people and the timing of the event isn't going to work.
The announcement comes after the Republican National Committee moved the convention from Charlotte, North Carolina to Jacksonville in June because of ongoing reopening restrictions.

I agree that most of us would rather have rallies than this convention.
Trump was going to hold an outdoor one in New Hampshire that got rained out. Perhaps that map is giving us a clue. Lots of areas of the country including that one with no red in them. A little JuJitsu turned back against the chartmasters perhaps.
He should have it in South Dakota where the Gov is stable and there are no nutty oppressive rules

I’m sure that the Convention will be planned and carried out more intelligently. Well done by President Trump. He’s not listening to the personalities studied in the following and is leading the way instead.

I’m NOT in any way walking away from President Trump. Just expressing my opinion on his decision re the convention.
I always thought the Jax numbers were a scam for use in cancelling the convention.
Aside from that, there’s also the fact that yesterday several states put Florida on a quarantine list (anybody who traveled to and returned from Florida would have to quarantine) so that probably was a factor too.

And this decision won today because it cut off another avenue of press attacks, spoiled the soros/dnc plans to make the RNC convention a shitshow and let their goons destroy JAX, and like it or not, for health reasons, will be seen as a reasonable leadership decision by independents and centrists

I fully expected that New Hampshire rally to have been re-scheduled by now for a new date coming soon. I know several people in NH who were planning to attend that NH rally, with NO fear at all, by the way.
My husband and I were thinking of possibly attending the rally, although we're nearly 3 hours from Portsmouth, NH (in northern CT).
I really HOPE Trump plans to continue with his live rallies. Somewhere. Anywhere! Before November 3rd. (Early voting starts in NC, MI, PA and other states in early September, btw)

I think it’s more so not having the support of his party on his flanks. Where are the GOP Senate calls for Trump to defend federal facilities against domestic terrorists? There are none. Literally.

Why does the convention need to be physical at all? Why is the GOP spending all this money on a giant party when there are far more important things to be dealing with?
This is like Sessions recusing himself and then going full court press to advance civil forfeiture and rabid enforcement on marijuana like these were the greatest issues facing America. Tone deaf and completely stupid.
