BROOKLINE (CBS) The owner of a Brookline deli said hes getting threats from customers who are refusing to wear face masks in his restaurant.
Steven Peljovich, the owner of Michaels Deli, said a small group of customers is making life hard by not respecting the rules and lashing out if they are asked to put on a mask or wait outside for their orders.
Its really hard when you are trying to run a business and you need all the revenue you can get, to try to accommodate people like that as politely as you can when they dont even want to talk to you about it, Peljovich said. When you ask them to wear masks and they tell me I can go screw. That is not what they say, but it is what they mean the language they use I cant tell you. Or they threaten to never come back.
Peljovich said customers have even thrown food at him. Hes asking everyone to be considerate and understanding during the coronavirus pandemic.
These mask whiners are no different from the mob who try to impose their will on wedding cake makers.
Or in the popular parlence.......”no soup for you !”
Peeps who are concerned by non=mask wearers should wear two masks. One for themselves and one for the non-compliant. It would seem that The Science would give them the same safety.
Hey verbally attacking someone or a business is certainly a person’s right.
Have at it.
Btw, we are reaching a point where lawlessness and disorder will become the norm. Civility is gone.
This one great country, a shining light, has become just another sh!thole country.
Maybe the Deli Owner should replace all the Glass in his Food Displays to Chain Link Fencing to better keep out the flies?? After all, Chain Link Fencing offers at least 10 Times the protection against flies as a mask does against influenza.
Not enough info in the article to tell exactly what’s going on.
Is it operating just carry-out or are they serving customers to eat inside?
Is there a mask dictate from the state?
That’s a very interesting idea. The one thing I don’t hear much is that this can be transmitted through the eyes which means we technically be wearing eye protection as well.
Proper response:
"Hey pal. Knock yourself out. You're banned."
“...Bottom line, the deli is private property. The deli owner makes the rules. Even an alleged conservative should respect property rights and either mask up or go somewhere else....”
Exactly. I’m definitely NOT a fan of having to wear a mask. Actually, I hate it and think it’s utterly stupid except in certain situations such as a medical emergency room and a cloth mask won’t cut it there.
However, these are small businesses trying to stay afloat in a harsh and forced tyrannical environment. Respect the rules or just don’t patronize them. Why stir up trouble for these guys? They’re just trying to stay afloat given the regs they’re forced to function under. Just go somewhere else or go hungry. IF someone wants to make trouble, make trouble for the govt. tyrants dictating this stuff.
FWIW, I had to get lawn mower parts yesterday from a local mom & pop shop. They requested anyone coming in to their shop to don a mask. No problem. I put it on, got my parts and got to heck out...no big deal. Hated having to wear the mask but was darn glad to get the parts I needed to finish my yard.
I do . Visor face shield that is quite comfortable and a mask
It is quite stunning to see the nasty attacks I get on this site for trying to protect myself from getting Covid
If you aren’t willing to guarantee my safety with an agreement to pay my medical bill then you have no business attacking me. (not you specifically)
Drs cant even guarantee that I wont have a problem with Covid.
Maybe people who dont want to wear masks take their business elsewhere
color me skeptical
I agree that the eye thing needs to be addressed.
As usual the CDC, NIH and Fauxcy are dead on their ass wrt showing us any “Science” on the issue.
It’s not like anyone is wearing a mask while eating anyway and it won’t come through the food unless you are inhaling it. I wear a mask most places but it really is a site dependent rule. The important thing about restaurants is keeping the number of customers from congregating.
I will never wear a slave muzzle mask...
You’re right, this man-made bio weapon IMHO is very unpredictable and dangerous if it runs into the right person. Do you have a link to the face mask?
Steve owns Mikes Deli?
My stance on this is remarkably similar to yours. I hate wearing masks in general. I do believe there’s a lot of theatrics in this ritual. But if it’s one of the requirements for commerce today, I’ll happily comply.
The irony is the video shows the owner wearing a mask with a one-way check valve designed to open when you exhale. So by design, his mask projects his breath into the open.
More mask theater.

Unless you are wearing a full hazmat suit a face shield will do absolutely nothing to protect you from airborne virus particles.
Can you smell any aromas in the room you’re in? Then the mask and/or helmet is not protecting you from viral size particles.
