Supreme Court, in 5-4 ruling, strikes down restrictive Louisiana abortion law

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Monday that Louisiana's tough restriction on abortion violates the Constitution, a surprising victory for abortion rights advocates from an increasingly conservative court.

The 5-4 decision, in which Chief Justice John Roberts joined with the court's four more liberal justices, struck down a law passed by Louisiana's legislature in 2014 that required any doctor offering abortion services to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. Its enforcement had been blocked by a protracted legal battle.

They definitely have pedo info on Roberts.

Whatever they have, how in this internet age can secrets be tamped down?

Get something out in the open. Once it is out he will leave. Who is keeping these secrets?

Got to get at least 2 more legitimately original intent believers on board from the many that PDJT has appointed. Can someone please sift that pool of potential nominees who has a broader Christian perspective. Profession of church membership is clearly not good enough. Let them be walking the talk in their own lives. It seems that Roberts acting as Chief, can be quite duplicitous in his decisions, IMHO.

I respect those whose "Yea" is "Yea" to the Constitution, not "Yea" and "Nay." The Original Intent casts no shadow or penumbra to muzzle the clarity of the Founders or of their God.

There a lot of supposed Christians in DC. They are pro-gay, pro-abrotion anti-bible chest thumping Christians. Roberts is one of them. So are a lot of so called conservative reporters. I will take a secular conservative over people like Roberts any day, they tend to be honest about their convictions.

That said, I was not surprised at this ruling. There was so little to separate this law from the one previously struck down, I wonder why the Court even decided to hear it. Frankly, if some woman wants to kill her baby and ends up dead or incapable of ever having children because they could not get timely care as a a result of this ruling, it was her decisions to begin with. No sympathy here. Common sense dictates that having admitting privileges with a local hospital will ensure the safety of patients. It will certainly manage the credentials of abortionists. I am of the opinion the Roberts will rule against conservative on social issues every time, he is a liberal. On separations of power and executive privileges he will rule with conservatives. But, he does not like Trump so that is affecting his judgment. I wish Bader would retire but wish her no ill, I wish Roberts would just drop dead, struck down by the God he claims to believe in.

Dear Lord, please grant us four more years of PDJT so that he’ll be able to nominate judges to replace RBG, Breyer and our beloved Clarence Thomas!!!

Roberts has completely sold out his soul to the wicked leftists who seek to rip our Constitution to shreds!!!

For the record: I don’t see any point in thinking he is “compromised”. I think he is ideologically a Progressive.

I agree with you 100%.

And let's take the mask off all the way, too.

These D.C. Republicans are 100% behind abortion on demand, and taxpayer funding for abortion as well. And they support this because they are champions of the Planned Parenthood agenda to control the black population in the U.S. The establishment GOP agenda is obvious:

"Federal funding for for Planned Parenthood is an investment in our future ... to terminate George Floyd quietly so that Derek Chauvin doesn't have to make an ugly scene while doing it on a Minneapolis street."

“Dan Bongino,in a scary podcast, warned that if the Dems. sweep in November we can look forward to them stacking the court with 40 yr.old ultra liberals who will be on the court for 50 years.”

Scalia died under strange circumstances and there was no autopsy. Perhaps Roberts is more consistently siding with the left because he has been reminded about Scalia’s unexpected retirement. It may be Roberts isn’t being blackmailed, he is just being reminded life can be short if one doesn’t take care of oneself.

Thomas is 72 years old. Likely the president elected this year will appoint his replacement. Covid disproportionately affects people over age 65. Is it possible Supreme Court staff or other actors could expose Thomas repeatedly to the virus in an effort to “accelerate his retirement” and make it look natural?

Didn’t Gorsuch go left on a recent ruling? Perhaps he is receiving life extending advice.

Strange Steve Bing (age 55), Bill Clinton’s “close friend” and $10 million donor to the Clinton Foundation, recently “fell” from his 27th floor apartment. Could this have been a message to other powerful and influential people?

So this case is virtually identical to Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, where Roberts voted in the minority to uphold the Texas law. Now he votes against the same law for Louisiana?

It is not going to matter who is appointed going forward. In this case, I would say that if Roberts had sided with the conservatives, then Gorsuch would have championed the cause of the baby-killers . . . or maybe Kavanaugh. That’s where we are as a country. We are ruled by these people no matter how we try to deny it.
