Democrats love photo ops. That can be said about all politicians, but Democrats in particular are keen to get involved in symbolism and fanfare whenever possible. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a master of producing photogenic moments for the press to fawn over, but her latest attempt to virtue signal in response to George Floyds murder appears to include a major misstep that would be comical if it werent so sad.
The Kente cloth stoles she and her fellow Democrats wore during their eight-minute kneeling ceremony (socially distanced, of course) have an ironic history as it pertains to this moment. In modern times, they are considered to be a sign of affluence as the colorful woven scarves are often more expensive than their normal counterparts. Most are prints which are more affordable, but the woven scarves the Democrats chose to wore werent cheap. But its in their historical significance that we see the real faux pas manifest
These scarves were traditionally worn by the wealthy land-owners and dignitaries of the Ashanti (or Asante) tribes of what is now known as Ghana. They were made of silk, making them not only rare but also symbolic of wealth. More importantly, they were adorned by those who were involved in the pervasive slave trade the wealthy of the Ashanti tribe embraced.
You read that right. The elite in the Ashanti tribe who wore these stoles throughout history were slave owners and even slave traders. They were a scourge throughout the reason, taking people from tribes they would conquer and selling them as slaves.

They were kneeling like Chauvin on Floyd! WOWIE!
It's all okay. Gropey Joe has determined that the Ashanti weren't really black.
‘There is a book entitled “The Negroes in Negroland”
Amazon also has it on Kindle @

Courtesy of the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, black voter oppression and suppression, segregation, etc.
But yeah, clueless sheeple, to include a host of uninformed black people, continue to vote for them, go figure. People need to learn some history and wake the phuk up. Oh, my bad, they steadily REMOVING our history, resorting to historical revisionism, and playing word semantics like ‘woke’ over ‘wake’..........
Nancy should have put a bone through her nose. It might have been a little less offensive
I haven't figured out why "taking a knee" hasn't been made a taboo yet.
Similarly, why is the Floyd family trying to get the UN to disarm the American police because that would allow the police to use only body parts to combat criminals... like their knees.
If they learned the history they would leave the Dem plantation they MUST remove history from schools AND universities history today in our education system STARTS with MLK anything before that must be wiped away!!
Many were sold to the settlers by black slave traders. Usually by those who defeated them in some tribal war. Those that weren't killed became slaves.
+1!
+2! :D
Democrats want their slaves back and have not been happy since the Republicans freed the slaves and made slavery unconstitutional.
STUPIDITY!! And KNOWING that their Constituents are even MORE STUPID!
In another article & on Twitter, Obianuju Ekeocha tells the Dems these Kente cloths aren’t just “cute” & colorful, they actually mean something— specifically, the patterns determine particular tribes, not just Africans in general.
Ekeocha says she herself would never wear the kinte cloth the Dems are wearing.
So— along with the OP of this thread, we get the message Ekeocha was surreptitiously trying to send to American blacks—most of whom btw are sadly unaware of African history.
Almost all of them were. White people generally did not go to the interior of Africa. They died of disease, particularly malaria.
Quinine helped a lot.
I want to see the fo0tage. I doubt she could kneel in that position for 8, almost 9 minutes.
I hate to be petty, but who paid for that adornment?
Quinine helped a lot
Anecdotally.
You!
Just title the pic: Nancy and her slaves
