Martin Gugino the 75-year-old man who was shoved to the ground by Buffalo police in a video seen by millions is a long-time peace activist and gentle person, according to friends.
The resident of Amherst in Erie County is a member of the People United for Sustainable Housing Buffalo and anti-nuclear group Kings BayPlowshares, the Buffalo News reported.
Hes a gentle person who really believes that he must stand up for what he thinks is right, said Guginos pal Terrence Bisson. Thats why he went to the demonstration. He would never resist physically any kind of orders. Hes a bit frail, not because of his age. He has some health problems.
The two have worked together at the Western

Yes, anti-American pinko.
Imagine all those antiwar protestors and SDS and Weatherman youths getting older and older (if they lived) and now they are the wimpy Sanders, Hillary or Biden creeps with gray or white hair.
My area has enormous numbers of them. “Turn off Fox News” “Dump Trump” bumper stickers on their cars. The lowest scum.
Have you seen his twitter? I saw it, F the police! His words
They live off in the well-to-do suburbs like Amherst but come downtown for some action. Action you want, action you get.
These people should know, "NEVER make a move on a cop doing his job." Such a protest veteran should know this.
The state of NY doesn't care about elderly people when they mixed Covid people in with the nursing homes. They should have fired the governor and the mayor.
Yes, it’s disgusting.
He had apparently been going up to cops or others and tapping them on the arm or someplace (such as the midriff) with his cell phone...nobody quite knows why. That said, he definitely did seem to be going for the cops belt, which is not good.
He was shoved way too hard, which was probably not intentional. But the thing that was intentional and is really bad is that the cop who shoved him wouldnt let anybody else stop to help him even though he was obviously badly injured.
Once again, one bad cop drags everybody else down.
The cops had a line of force to maintain and couldn’t stop. The follow-up guys in camo knelt by the old man’s side within SECONDS. Another protestor came thru the “maintained” line within SECONDS...and had to be subdued. If the cops had stopped and bent over the old man, the second protestor would’ve been on their backs. That old guy was a threat and had to be pushed back. Not only was he making movements toward the cops with his right hand, he had a helmet in his left hand he could’ve swung at them.
You NEVER walk into a group of cops moving! The is aggressive and it immediately make the cops get ready to defend.
He was a gentle giant...
I enjoy it. He was hoping to created a little chaos for the cameras. He knew better than to approach marching riot police. The protesting is killing innocent people and ruining lives. Maybe next time he won't be so eager to participate.
Old timers coming to town for a little action....
That Cream of Wheat can get awfully boring when you’re sheltering in place with the Reader’s Digest and some Lawrence Welk albums.
“Hey good lookin’, do you come to this public library branch often?”
“...but the thing that was intentional and is really bad is that the cop who shoved him wouldnt let anybody else stop to help him...”
Absolutely not true.
Guys in camo were kneeling beside him WITHIN seconds.
Watch the video again!
Until we hear of any verbal directives by the LEO's, that may be true but it isn't relevant. In this instance, physical resistance alone was enough to warrant reaction by the LEO's.
This large individual was aggressively physically blocking the path of approaching LEO's. That, even in this setting, no doubt is a criminal violation in many jurisdictions.
In the course of that confrontation he touched an active officer with an unknown mechanical device in two quick instances. We don't know from the video if he was ignoring lawful police directives or directing profanity towards the officer during the attempted blocking.
Some would argue that is actionable obstruction of justice.
Perhaps the only issue is whether the LEO's used unreasonable force resulting in injury. A well-balanced, fully informed jury composed of American citizens would likely find it was not.
“He drama queened the fall too much and paid for it. Like basketball players who put on an act when another player charges.”
Great, he’s a drama queen. It’s now gone all over the world making our police officers look like thugs when we least need this crap.
Amen brother.
He drama queened blood out of his right ear, a lot of it. That probly takes a lot of practice.
On another thread it was posted that in the still shots you can see tubing running behind his ear, and along the mask to his temple area. The “blood” appeared to be dye packs used to simulate blood in movies.
It seemed that he was poking the bear to get the reaction he got so he could appear to be a bloody mess to set up the cops.
why was his helmet off and in his left hand?
why did he approach the officers to prevent them from making an arrest?
why was he poking both officers with his cell phone and looking like he was hitting the officer’s holster?
and lastly, why didn’t the MSM show the two camo troops to the rear of the group kneel down and render assistance until the EMS showed up, which was called by the third cop from his shoulder mike, as he walked up and motioned for the first two to keep moving?
Getting pretty sick of cherry-picked MSM video
That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out. It looked very much as if he were trying to grab something.
No, a cop next to the one who shoved the guy stopped and ran back to help the man and the cop who had shoved him then pushed the other cop away and said no, no. It was only when the shover had moved a few feet ahead that the other cops could get to the guy on the ground.
Im not justifying the elderly peacenik, who was stupid, but again it was a situation where one dominant and perhaps too aggressive cop intimidated the others.
