Deputy Postmaster General Ronald A. Stroman will leave before new agency head Louis DeJoy takes the helm
Weeks before a Republican donor and top White House ally becomes postmaster general, the U.S. Postal Service has begun a review of its package delivery contracts and lost its second-highest executive, which will leave its board of governors without any officials who predate President Trump.
The moves, confirmed by six people with knowledge of the Postal Services inner workings but not authorized to speak publicly, underscore how Trump is moving closer to reshaping an independent agency he has dubbed a joke.
The Postal Service in recent weeks has sought bids from consulting firms to reassess what it charges companies such as Amazon, UPS and FedEx to deliver products on their behalf often in the last mile between a post office and a customers home. Higher package rates would cost shippers and online retailers billions of dollars, potentially spurring them to invest in their own distribution networks instead of relying on the Postal Service.

“Amazon”? Oh, man. This could get good!
“NEWMAN!” ;)
Ooh boy...THIS COULD GET INTERESTING
Let the USPS delivery employees keep Sunday as God intended it...not as how Amazon Prime amended it.
i almost never get an amazon package delivered by the post office
amazon has invested heavily in its own delivery services, they rely much much less on usps to do actual package delivery to the addressee
Why the Hell can’t UPS deliver my stuff directly to my house?
Their big brown truck goes right past my house and drops off my package at the Post Office so it can be delivered the next day! Dumb’est thing!!!
Make deliveries only 3 times a week and triple charges and increase charges based on distance
The USPS needs to go back to what it does best in simple letter and package service. The service needs a major haircut. UPS has its niche as do the others. Let the market decide.
In the last month I had an Amazon Prime pkg delivered to my door by USPS on Sunday.
I NEVER ask for Sunday delivery but have gotten a few in the last year.
this is YUGE: USPS taxpayer subsidies allow USPS to ship packages for amazon and other biggies below cost: in other words, you and i are subsidizing near-trillionaire Jeff Bezos
Amazon ALWAYS delivers on Sundays, UPS May be doing deliveries on Sundays due to the situation we are in even over the holidays UPS doesnt deliver on Sunday however when you have The Whole damn country ordering on line because stores are closed I imagine they are swamped!,
Go one further. No reason for Saturday delivery of Mail. Deliver mail/packages Mon-Fri and offer Saturday delivery for a additional surcharge.
You need to make arrangements with the UPS to have them deliver packages to your home.
I really think delivery on Mon, Wed, Friday would be fine!!
I live 7 miles out in the country and many, if not most of what I order from Amazon is delivered by the USPS (eventually).
I think they do that so they don't have to make a delivery out in the country where they have few or no other deliveries in the area on that day. I don't like it when they turn it over to the USPS because they are slow (usually adds a day to the time) and their tracking is a joke.
UPS gives you an option at their web site for $3.50 for them to deliver to your door instead of them transferring to the post office.
It was all a big Democrat Socialist protection racket. The had to the the USPS in business so they forced the other carriers to make a deal with the USPS to keep the pathetic joke in business.
As I understand the system the SENDER designates the manner
that their package is sent and thereby pays a reduce rate.
Not much the recipient can do to change the manner.
