Wait a minute. I have seen those shows on TV. When the district attorney drops the charges, the judge always slams the gavel down and says case dismissed.
When the charges are dropped, the judge has nothing left to judge.
The Judge has already made up his mind and wants to pull a person that will rule in his favor?

Many stupid or biased judges will do anything, procedurally incorrect or legally disallowed, with haughty attitude, often stated of “take me up”.
What do they care? They are hard to get rid of. If over ruled a number of times, many in the profession of law just laugh about it.

Yeah this is getting more weird. Very hard for me to understand the role of a person brought in by the court to argue a certain point of view against everyone else in the case.
I think the conviction or sentencing of Flynn cannot withstand an appeal after this
The absurdity is the judge can make his own decision to deny the government motion. He has no need to create new “parties” to come in and prosecute Flynn. Much less a biased party.

There should be the report that Barr based his decision on, that needs to be made public now.
Exactly. And more. Let’s see every single FIB document on Flynn. Haul Wray in front of a DOJ camera to explain the FIB role in this outrage, etc., etc.

This is close to the silly scene in the Untouchables, where the judge switches juries with one in another courtroom that hasn’t heard the case.
No, only the judge can dismiss the case.
I'm no lawyer, but isn't there a bit of habeas corpus here? Flynn pled guilty -- but to what? Was there a real crime? DOJ says No. Flynn is making a claim, but someone needs to prove that the claim is true -- did an illegal act take place?
You know, if I claim I murdered Brad Pitt, they won't convict me. Sure, I pled guilty. But there was no crime.
