[This explains why Trump’s first reaction was to welcome the oil crash. Trump thought for every cent cut from the price of oil, a billion dollars of consumer spending power would be released at home. That was until his attention turned to what the oil price collapse was doing to his own oil industry. ]

Trump has to make a show of caring about shale oil. In reality, the move from $55 to $20 shoveled $250b of annual stimulus into the economy. What’s more important is that these are dollars and cents every single driver can see when he goes to the gas station. The key is to get the economy going again without triggering mass death from this new disease. The extent to which he can manage that while flicking away media and Dem attempts to paint him a modern-day Nero will decide the outcome in November.

I predict the shale industry will be more resilient than predicted, and the cost per barrel to obtain it will keep going down.

Oil prices and production...will not return to a norm until airports and normal air traffic return to a norm (worldwide). I don’t see this occurring over the next one-hundred days, and we might be lucky to see a 50-percent air-traffic situation by the end of 2020.

For Saudi Arabia, you might as well predict a serious economic mess approaching and a fair amount of discontent throughout the Middle East for the rest of 2020, and going at least through the first half of 2021. Some of these royal ‘princes’ are going to be hit with a 80-to-90 percent allowance cut.

Islam was in a real slump in its forever war against Civilization until oil money gave it a boost. The day oil runs out in the mid east is a good day.

Like a mega-lottery winner, Saudi Arabia just happened to be sitting atop the world's largest oil reserves. But 70% of lottery winners go bankrupt after a few years.

Well, we (the U.S.) showed them how to get it out of the ground and get into the business. So I guess we can’t complain too much.

Very true, but oil demand will not return to normal levels for a long time. Demand is down 40%, I believe, which is a strong indicator that the economy is in a true depression. I don't think this will just pick up like magic when everything opens back up.

There has to be businesses to go back to and many won't open back up. I think the economy has been absolutely destroyed.

I am in Northern Virginia and you would think the proximity to Washington, DC would ensure a soft landing with all the many fed workers and contractors. However, I listened to a local economist who estimated that 30 to 40% of small businesses and 50% of restaurants will not reopen when this is over. He was referring only to Northern Virginia. If true, and it rings true, this is a catastrophe. People are already going hungry and the food lines are long - soon to be called bread lines by the media.

Will Trump get reelected? I think it all depends on the Dem nominee. If Biden is as feeble minded as he seems, Trump might be able to get over the goal line, but the election will only be about Covid and its aftermath - nothing else matters.

Can you explain how that worked?

I could not care less if muslim countries all become destitute. It would be for the best as they are a military and jihadist threat to the world as they have used oil money to export Wahhabism islam to the rest of the world.

MBS is finding out now how weak his cards are. To be fair, before he made that call, he took advice from someone as arrogant and unthinking as he is. US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and Middle East advisor Jared Kushner listened to what the Saudi crown prince was about to do and did not object.

The Orange Man Bad key is issued to every “journalist” along with the employee handbook and W2 form

How about Russia/China collusion to foment Middle East instability and China/Derp collusion to release a psy-op virus to defeat Orange Man?

It’s as good a guess as any.

Shall we enumerate the leftist win column? How about: Crush Trump’s economy; unprecedented bailouts for Dem cronys; cries for mail-in voting; collapse of small businesses; oil deflation; civil unrest; tyrannical governors...

Plus to add in the facts
  1. Saudi Arabia is an empire, not a country - it was cobbed together in 1920 by the present king's father by conquering other tribes
  2. The Al Sauds threw out the Hashemites (the king of Jordan's dynasty) who had ruled the Hejaz (the area of Mecca and Medina) for centuries and are allegedly descendants of Muhammad
  3. The rest of the tribes are bribed by a combination of money - the kingdom doles out money to all
  4. and religion - the Al Sauds married into the Al-Wahhabs and have a pact to spread Wahabbism -- why do you think Islamic jihadism has spread since the 1970s thanks to Saudi funding madrassahs from the Philippines to the USA
  5. With the welfare gone and Wahabbism in disarray, there will be civil war

The Sauds will go, the Hejaz will become part of Jordan and moderate

The interior of Saudia will become a jihadi hellhole but with no oil or money or resources, they'll just kill each other

The north eastern part with the oil will join Iraq - it's Shia dominated in any case

The southern part will rejoin Yemen - it was grabbed from Yemen by the Sauds in the 1920s

So is it finally time to put a “fence” around the entire Middle East and check back with them in a decade to see how they sorted it out?

For many years, the EU has been importing Muslims, against the obvious long-term interests of native Europeans.

How much of that was because the Saudis, and others, were bribing EU politicians to do that? And what happens when the funding stops, right at the point where the people are fed up with immigrants?

If the oil money stops the Saudi crime family is screwed. The “country”, which is actually a Mafia family business, blows up.
