WASHINGTON (AP) Despite pockets of attention-grabbing protests, a new survey finds Americans remain overwhelmingly in favor of stay-at-home orders and other efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus. A majority say it wont be safe to lift such restrictions anytime soon, even as a handful of governors announce plans to ease within days the public health efforts that have upended daily life and roiled the global economy.
The survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that more than a month after schoolyards fell silent, restaurant tables and bar stools emptied, and waves from a safe distance replaced hugs and handshakes, the country largely believes restrictions on social interaction to curb the spread of the virus are appropriate.
Only 12% of Americans say the measures where they live go too far. About twice as many people, 26%, believe the limits dont go far enough. The majority of Americans - 61% - feel the steps taken by government officials to prevent infections of COVID-19 in their area are about right.
Just 36% of Republicans now say they strongly favor requiring Americans to stay home during the outbreak, compared with 51% who said so in late March. While majorities of Democrats and Republicans think current restrictions where they live are about right, Republicans are roughly four times as likely as Democrats to think restrictions in place go too far 22% to 5%.
More Democrats than Republicans, meanwhile, think restrictions dont go far enough, 33% to 19%.

Thanks to HotHunt for the above great visual!
If people want to stay home, let them! NO ONE wants to force them to go out!
Id like people to be asked...how long do you want the lockdown/house arrest to continue? 1 month? 4 months? 6 months?
Well I believe the checks and unemployment were to go for 39 weeks.
I honestly believe the democrats do not want people to go back to work or have private business. They want to give you UBI of about 1000.00 to 1500.00 a month. They also do not want private home ownership for the masses.
If old people like myself, or those with major health problems choose to isolate themselves longer, that’s ok. But anyone young, healthy and able to work who chooses to stay at home instead of going back to work shouldn’t get any more money from the state or the feds. Unfortunately, I think there is a segment of our society that would rather not work as long as the government is willing to pay them not to work.
Ask those same Americans if they are willing to stay home with no checks from US Government.
Question, “Since relaxing sensible sty at home polices will kill you and your family do you approve or disapprove of relaxing these sensible policies?”
Thanks. Looks like I’m about their age.
I don’t think it is fake...
I think they did a damn good job of scaring the hell out of the public.
And that is a huge psychological battle to undo.
RIGGHT ON ,BABY!!
What a nation of faggots. The chinee got the intel they needed. Now they can wage a military invasion of the Continental U.S. and the majority will roll over on their backs like submissive cocker spaniels and pee their own bellies in surrender.
The minority will put up a stiff resistance.
But of course, the Fearper Karens and the ChiComs would LOVE to see everything shut down. They probably want the power and water shut down, too...
I definitely see this in California. However, even we are beginning to get some pushback, finally.
"When things are going wrong the girl thing to do is to 'shelter in place.' The boy thing to do is to 'march towards the sound of the guns.'
In my view, President Trump offers both alternatives to the American people. But the Democrats are all 'shelter in place.' Or they will arrest you."
-- Christopher Chantrill,
How many Americans want to go without income for 6 months?
Well ya see, if the poll led off with that idea with a question like: if you were not receiving sick pay or some pay continuance from the government or your company, how long do you think the restrictions should stay in place?
A. Till the threat is over
B. Till my money ran out
C. Before I starved and was thrown in the street.
I bet door C gets 95% of the votes.
Tell them there wont be another $1.200 and their unemployment ends on April 30 and see what they say then...
most of the poll takers like getting paid to just sit at home...
Lots of gamers out there...
They call this gas lighting.
