New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on Tuesday night that she believes the Democratic Party has an obligation to examine a sexual assault allegation made against presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden by Tara Reade, his former aide when he served as Delaware's senator.
In response to a question about the allegations during an online conversation with The Wing—a group dedicated to the "professional, civic, social, and economic advancement of women through community"—Ocasio-Cortez said, "I think it's legitimate to talk about these things."
"If we again want to have integrity, you can't say, you know, both believe women, support all of this, until it inconveniences you," she added.
While Biden has denied Reade's accusation, Ocasio-Cortez said that not discussing #MeToo issues in order to improve Biden's chances of beating President Donald Trump during the November election is the "exact opposite of integrity."

I was looking forward to the presidential debate, Trump v. Biden, but the odds of that happening have now all but vanished.
There’s an old movie called “Gaslight” which is where the term originates.
To “gaslight” someone is to make them seriously doubt things they (otherwise) know (without a doubt) to be true. It’s very unnerving to be “gaslighted” by someone you trust implicitly. To the point of doubting your own sanity in extreme cases.
I now have a new job and everyone just gushes over my work ethic and attitude.
As far as I know I am the same person I was at my old job. I don't know why I find myself dwelling on my old job. It's not going to change anything but I guess it's just my nature to want to know what I did wrong so I don't do it again.
I am generally a positive, upbeat, optimistic person who looks for opportunities to encourage and uplift others. That episode rattled my cage and made me think I was naive to be that way.
As I mentioned to another FReeper on this thread, my new job allows me to pray for people who are facing literal "life and death" situations, not conflated ones.

If someone was doing that to you as an adult and you had such a strong reaction, then you should look at your early life to see if their was a person/people in it who treated you in a similar way which sensitized you and made you vulnerable.

I rented the movie “Gaslight” years ago for our wedding anniversary. I figured, Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman, what could go wrong? Mrs. Sivana suggested to me, coldly, that “Gaslight” may not have been the best choice for a romantic anniversary movie.
