On Jan 21 there were 248 cases in China and zero cases in the US. So at that time there was no threat to the US.
The threat happened weeks later when we got cases in the US and it started to spread.
Sometimes you don’t realixe you took a wrong turn until your wife yells at you.

Problem is the left is doing monday morning quarter backing. They are telling us with everything they know today, they would do things differently and that Trump is a giant Dumb dumb for allowing the virus to spread.
They even as far saying his travel ban in January didn’t go far enough, yes the same people who called him a racist are saying President Trump wasn’t racist enough in January.
That is why people are posting Fauci’s quotes. He is monday morning quarterbacking the entire thing claiming he wanted to do things differently while at the time he was saying something totally different.
These quotes are fair in that context.
All of these critics would be shitting in their pants if they were in Trump’s place.
It’s not the critic that counts, it’s the man in the arena.
I guess Trump probably isn’t perfect. But if you look at the time timeline, and what he said, and what the “experts” said, you come to the conclusion that he was 3 steps in front of everybody from start to finish.
The Democrats can trying to say he screwed the pooch — but anyone who looks at this is going to saying, “Somebody screwed the pooch. But if there is anyone who DIDN’T screw the pooch, that would be the President.”
Turns out they were more right on at least the reaction if they had the data we have now, but they didn’t

So they are parsing through everything he says as if he is under oath, then taking one or two sentences out of context without regard to what else he said in the same answer. This is making conservatives look bad.
There are no easy answers to complex problems. We are all limited by the information we had at the time we made a decision that was either wrong or not as good as we thought later.
Remember, China covered this up, the WHO did not pass along Taiwan's warning about human to human transmission, every public health official outside of China got caught off guard. Dr. Fauci got thrust in a role of solving a problem he did not create.
