President Trump on Friday described the decision on when and how to reopen the country as the most difficult one hes had to make in his life, underscoring the careful line he is walking between concerns about the economy and public health during the coronavirus outbreak.
I dont know that Ive had a bigger decision. But Im going to surround myself with the greatest minds. Not only the greatest minds, but the greatest minds in numerous different businesses, including the business of politics and reason...
And were going to make a decision, and hopefully its going to be the right decision, he continued. I will say this. I want to get it open as soon as we can.
...But public health experts have warned about the risk of reopening the country too early, which could set up a nightmare scenario where COVID-19 again surges in communities and overwhelms hospitals.
Even if Trump decides to relax the guidelines, the decision to reduce restrictions like stay-at-home orders and business closures would ultimately fall to states that implemented them.
To map out a potential reopening, Trump said he will unveil members of a new group Tuesday that he dubbed the Opening Our Country Council. The cohort is expected to include administration officials, business leaders and political figures from around the country.
Trump has repeatedly insisted that he will listen to recommendations from top health officials like Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx when making a decision on when and how to relax the guidelines.
I listen to them about everything. I think they are actually surprised. I have great respect for these people, all of them, and others that are working for us, Trump told reporters Friday...
I will certainly listen, Trump continued later. I understand the other side of the argument very well."

Since it’s you metmom I have to keep this extra clean :-)
Solomon would say darn this. Everybody get out and go back to work!!
In southern, low impact areas where flu season is essentially over, send barbers, hairstylists, etc back to work. Test the barbers for corona once a week
And Fauci has now said that all the projections were no good. He also said he didn't give a damn about the economy as that's not part of his job.
A genuine ah....and to him, you are simply a number.
People will stop listening. Fine us? Put us in jail. The Supreme Court will clobber you.
President Trump also said that he had common sense after Fauci shot down the Malaria cocktail as “anecdotal”.
Trust me, they care nothing about our economy, and bad economies kill people too. Just as sure as any virus.
I’m going to open a hangover remedy stand the day after, because I predict it’s going to be party city that night.
Splitting the baby is certainly an impossible task. Democrats really don’t care about it as long as people die and they can blame it on trump. I think this thing is gonna backfire on them.
I have to admit I sorta like the social distancing. People invading my personal space has always been a source of irritation for me.
I also like having the road more to myself with not as many xanax people out. You would think that the number of car accidents should probably be down nationwide.
I would like to see democrats continue the policy of not driving staying out of the public arena with them hovelling at home in fear.
Nothing makes me quite as happy as hearing that they are cowering and hiding in their own closets. Get back in the closets I like the sound of that!!!
Frankly, he should leave it to the governors.
They know their states.
It spreads the responsibility.
and takes into account the regional quality of the illness.
Don't eff it up like you did when you signed the great big theft.
Put America back to work
Trying to figure out how the barber's going to trim my beard with my N-95 mask on. (jk)
He should say, all borders will remain closed, travel from certain countries will remain curtailed and all other federal restrictions for work and travel have been lifted. It will be up to each State to determine when and where to go from here.
Secondly, he should apologize for keeping Farci and Beezabob on the panel but it was Pence's job to fire them and he failed
Dear Heavenly Father, our King, our Lord, our God, we humbly beseech You O Lord to bless President Trump with wisdom, discernment, right knowledge and sustaining strength to overcome obstacles, deceptions, and treachery in these dark, evil, times. In our Lord Jesus Christs name we pray. Amen
No, because he knows more people will die than if he keeps everything closed.
Its difficult to make a decision to send military men and women into battle. Those men and women volunteered, knowing they could be sent and possibly die.
But in this case, the people who might die are civilians who never volunteered for a mission that could result in their death.
Thats why this is the most difficult decision hes ever made. No President has ever had to make such a decision.

Social distancing is a government approved form of personal discrimination. It helps me limit the people I have to be around even if it’s just a little bit of control I like it for my own freedom and safety.
It’s almost as if the government has come to recognize that each person has sovereignty over their own 12’ diameter circular perimeter. Gives some teeth to my concept of ‘Stand your ground’ rights. It also limits the rights of those who desire to encroach on my space, faith, freedom, security.
To quote sting “please don’t stand so close to me” bro. I like that.
I’d like my accupuncture and chiropractor back too.
Maybe he should delay his recommendation to reopen — until the shutdowns wreck people’s lives enough to where they stop listening to the likes of Fauci.
We Americans are a restless bunch. Hate standing still for long. Or being told how to live for long.
When we finally get back to work...Watch Out World!
I worked for a man who started a business after his retirement as a bank President to get away from his wife. He joked that he never realized what a bitch she was until he retired!
He started a small but profitable trucking business that he ran until his death at age 74. At his mistresses house!
Then WE found out what a bitch she was.
I don’t blame the old boy for having “retirement activities” to keep him busy. ;)
for some reason the transcripts for the video interviews I posted with Dr. Knut Wittkowski and Dr John Ioannidis are no longer working. however, they are here (with some favourite excerpts.
