Since the last day to complete the Census is tomorrow, I was curious if there was a census tracking website and I came across this one.
With one day left, the responses seem very low. Keep in mind this is an on-line census so there should be no delays because the completed forms are 'in the mail'.
It looks to me this on-line census didn't produce the higher responses than mail-in forms.
There are going to be a lot of follow-up visits required but do they have the staff even without the current coronavirus crisis.
Trouble ahead for congressional redistricting and state funding allocations?
Fake news
I have received no online notice of anything related to the census in the over 100 emails per day that I received.
I have seen TV ads for the Census in English and Spanish. They give a web site for INFORMATION. I haven’t seen any ad that says:
This is the site for the form. Fill it out.
By law, the Census is where ARE/WERE you on April 1. Not where will you be on April 1.
I’ll have to search the web for this form you mention.
neighbors say that they did the census report for the very first time in their lives (so they skipped doing it maybe 6 or 7 times)
and what thanks did they get for their nice cooperation this time? they have since received 4 dunning demands that they do it !
they say they will “never again cooperate with the d*** census krap!”
(it would not help for representation purposes)
I googled and clicked thru 6 or 7 screens to get to a screen that said enter the number sent to you in the mail. I’ll have to check with my wife. As far as I know, we have received a post card with very generic information, mostly emphasizing no question about citizenship. Other than that, nothing.
Shouldn’t we wait until after the CCP virus runs its course to do a census?
Will not respond
Ain’t nobody got time for that.
I received 3 reminders. Did do it. They could save us some money by giving people a chance to answer. No doubt I’ll get a couple more notices while my on line form is being recognized/tallied.
That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
I got the letter in the mail. I went to the website. All that it should ask is how many people live in the dwelling.
The moment it asked for my name and the names of my family I x’ed out of it. They don’t need that information, just the number of people in the home.
I never recieved the mailing which was supposed to come on or about March 10-20. I did it online. Very easy.
Thank you for thread. Forgot about it, and never received any mailings on it.
How can you claim to be American if you lied to the census?
Your post made me realize I had the mailings and had been mulling whether I should complete them.
I did the first few questions (names of residents and number of residents) and for the rest I refused to answer. I refused by repeatedly clicking “next” and ignoring the red boxes that pop up.
So all they got was names and a number.
When I tried to do mine online I also got an error and was told to call a number. I got a recording that said if an online response wasn’t received by April 16 a paper census form would be mailed.
I did mine.
First time in my life that there was only one person counted in my house...me.
A very poignant moment.
“I did the on-line thing. Responded to name and address and total people in household. Phone number is 555-1212. Race/ethnicity = American. Thats about it.”
ditto ... did pretty much the same thing ...
“Am I the only one who hasnt done it? Dont think we ever got the paper one, and like the taxes havent done yet. Is there a penalty for being late?”
there’s a whole series of “deadlines” that if you don’t do so-and-so by such-and-such, then “this will happen
“; the “this will happen” simply amounts to being mailed another notice; they’ll eventually mail a paper from if all of the “deadlines” are missed ...
Will “Mind Your Own Beeswax” fit in the telephone and ethnicity fields? ;-)
(I haven’t gone online yet)
