I don't think this part can be emphasized enough. This is at least the third straight late afternoon press conference he's held that added to the chaos and confusion in the state.

Exactly. Every afternoon, they seem to escalate things a little more. It's not just Wolfy in PA. It's Cuomo, Newsome, and Murphy as well.

Let's keep in mind where we are. The political establishment in DC attempted a soft coup in 2016. They attempted an illegitimate impeachment in 2019. More and more, this is looking like a semi-soft coup. If this fails, what comes next?

And they've got a new police commissioner in Philly who is from Portland where they are experts at allowing riots to happen. Buckle up, Philly.

She's a 4-star Affirmative Action General.

Yes, Gov. Wolf has handled this in the most disrupting way possible. Announcing State Stores (Wine & Spirits) would be closed the following day, at 8:00 PM, but in reality started closing the stores right away. People find out, and start showing up in droves to get supplied, instead of having a whole day to filter the buying. Normally, there might be 5 or 10 people in our 3 local stores, now we have hundreds crowding in, all trying to beat the closing.

My son-in-law is an electrician, he was told last night, around dinner-time, not to show up today for work. We have 4 adults in our home, 2 are now out of work with no pay (I work in Senior Moves, so our small business has been shut down for 2 weeks already). My husband can work-from-home, otherwise we would be at huge risk. As it is, I have a bad feeling that my job will be a complete loss, since we are a very small private business that may not survive this shut-down.

That said, I don’t know what else we are supposed to do. We are all staying home, unless we need something essential. We had already stocked up about 3 weeks ago. We’re tying to be respectful of others. But honestly, I’m beginning to get ticked off at the restrictions piling up, and I know who is behind all this, and wondering if at least part of it is political. I just hope others feel the same way, and aren’t falling for the “blame Trump” meme.

You're all my FR brothers and sisters. We're in this together. Most of us have been corresponding on topics for years, even decades.

Believe me, I know some on the board (like most of the country) has been going off half-cocked because of COVID-19.

What we know from open sources is the CA and now PA are on "lockdown."

Illinois is probably next:

Govenor JB Pritcher says coronavirus could force Italy-style lockdown in Illinois

Texas is mulling over the same action.

See Rummyfan's post. It makes perfect and logical sense:

"California and now Pennsylvania. I think it’s inevitable that other states will follow suit."

Even discounting everything else, know this: when one state or institution takes measures or actions for "safety", most others are pressured to follow suit, or else if things go south they will be blamed for "not taking action."

Read what is going on with military bases.

And yes, stock up if you haven't already.

Medicine, food, supplies, gasoline, and take out some cash from the ATM to have on hand.

We have plenty of food in our supermarkets please do not encourage gluttony we have had that for weeks. There is no full lock down coming. I am at work as we speak in an essential business.

“The rumor I hear is that all states are going to go on “lock down” in the near future.”

And why pass on rumors. People in California are on lock down, but are still allowed to go the the supermarkets and pharmacies.

What is the definition of lock down? The grocery stores, gas stations, and public transportation shut down? Never happen.

What is the need for water? Municipalities spend tens of millions of dollars on water purification plants to produce clean, potable water. No need to stock up on water. Just turn on the tap in your home.

People are panicking. Close to 99% of the people who get the Wuhan flu will survive. We are destroying our economy for what amounts to a different strain of the generic flu that kills tens of thousands annually in this country.

We had to destroy the village in order to save it. Insanity.

Lockdown rules in CA (for now):

- Californians are not allowed to leave home except for essential purposes

- Allowed to purchase groceries, prescriptions and health care, as well as commute to jobs deemed essential (not sure how they determine and enforce this)

People are panicking. Close to 99% of the people who get the Wuhan flu will survive.

I agree with you 100%.

However, if states go into "lockdown", the rules can become more restrictive overnight.

People should stock up and be prepared. Prudence is for the wise.

And why pass on rumors.

Then call it info, and the reason is for people to be prepared and to stock up on what they need.

please do not encourage gluttony

?????

Next you'll accuse me of encouraging lust.

If you don't want to stock up on food, medicine, or supplies, in order to help your family or your neighbors if need be, that is entirely your choice.

Yup.

You hearing 6:00PM EST? That's what I'm hearing.

Went for a drive. Closed the restaurants and everyone now flooding grocery stores and they are picked clean.

SkyPilot, brother, you are correct. We are in this together.

And I did not mean to sound as if I was hammering you; just suggesting that if something is a rumor, it’s best to get more corroborating info before committing it to post.

All good, friend. And thanks.

“And not one bleat for the sheeple.”

We have NO voice. We’re ruled by Denver Cat-Ladies and governor Twinkletoes. My town has been overrun by Californians who are standing outside of the Starbucks licking the glass.

He’s doing the right thing....there’s already a death in the state due to this flu. The deaths could double or triple in the next few days

How many deaths this year in PA from the regular flu? See table 2--93 deaths with 64 being over the age of 65.

How many cases per week during the 2019-2020 season?

Figure 2: Comparison of PA-NEDSS Influenza Cases (All Types) in Current Season to the Eight Previous Seasons

So far, there have been 206 confirmed cases of the Wuhan flu in PA with one death.
