Amazon is banning sellers from shipping any non-essential items to its warehouses as it grapples with overwhelming demand for basic staple items as the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow.
The Seattle-based e-tailing giant sent an email to sellers Tuesday announcing that it would only be accepting household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products for the next three weeks so that it can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver the products to customers.
We are seeing increased online shopping, and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock, Amazon told sellers, according to an email obtained by NBC.
Sellers who use the Fulfillment by Amazon program normally send their goods to Amazons warehouses, which store and deliver the products for a fee.

"Why is that?" I asked.
The salesman: "People are going crazy buying freezers. I've never seen such a thing. We're trying to get caught up just delivering all the freezers."
Kids new to homeschooling can spend some of their time learning to cook and bake. Schools in many places are emailing home some assignments, but most kids will finish them quickly.
2 rolls will last a guy 2 months.
Yup. My usual Tuesday AM order from Amazon did not come in this morning. Looks like it’s going to be a rough March...at least.
Folks buying these freezers and cleaning out the stores buying hundreds pounds of perishables need to consider warmer weather, storm related power outages along with the normal power out from drivers knocking down poles etc. Buying a good generator and storage for enough fuel to stave off that one failure that renders their frozen food preperations as garbage.
Who decides what is not needed or wanted?
Where in the HELL am I living?
I pay off every month...No interest.
What are you talking about?

Still in good supply phew !!
This is like a war. Amazon will be like the auto companies during WWII which shifted to building tanks and planes. Just as Amazon will be used to shift resources where they need to go the most.

I hope the damn hoarders get horrible diarrhea and go through their stash in triple time!
Amazon doesn’t MAKE anything. We need to MAKE things here. We need a huge import tariff NOW!
Amazon is a logistics company more than anything. They know how to get stuff quickly where it needs to go.
My Patriot Supply is sold out of everything.

So are all of the chest and upright freezers in my area - Albany NY - until May, at least.
I’ve been shopping for a mid-size freezer and waiting for a better price to come along - that’s ain’t gonna happen any time soon at this point.
Even hard to find non-perishable stuff like canned goods. Insane.
See Post #58.
Freezers sold out until mid May or so.
