Amazon suspends shipments of non-essential products to warehouses amid coronavirus-driven shortages

Amazon is banning sellers from shipping any non-essential items to its warehouses as it grapples with overwhelming demand for basic staple items as the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow.

The Seattle-based e-tailing giant sent an email to sellers Tuesday announcing that it would only be accepting “household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products” for the next three weeks so that it can “more quickly receive, restock, and deliver” the products to customers.

“We are seeing increased online shopping, and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock,” Amazon told sellers, according to an email obtained by NBC.

Sellers who use the Fulfillment by Amazon program normally send their goods to Amazon’s warehouses, which store and deliver the products for a fee.

He didn’t stand down.

He gleefully jumped out of the way and cheered!

Yup. The Trump campaign could air Biden’s China remarks in a five second tv spot, but won’t. The Stupid Party rarely uses the obvious in election ads. Most of the time, all that is required is a montage of all the stupid crap democrats have said over the last six months.

My order of a Play Station 4 shipped. It’s been years since I had a game console, but it’s a good way to waste countless hours in doors.

I loved the game Civilization. I would grow my empire until I built nuclear weapons and then unleash them. The end of game message that nuclear winter has destroyed mankind was fun.

Dear Mr. Small Businessman:

We understand you bet 100% of your future on Fulfillment by Amazon.

GFY. You’re dead.

Sincerely,

Jeff Bezos.

We had an Amazon driver do that. Made large ruts in our lawn. I complained and after talking to several people, they had me send them a photo of the damage. After I did, they told me to get an estimate for getting it fixed, so our yard guys sent me an estimate. It was approved and they sent a check to reimburse us (took about a month for total resolution).

I’m beginning to think that from now on, ‘normal’ is just a setting on my washing machine.

Walmart manager told me yesterday warehouse employees were not showing up for work. Probably the same with Amazon.

Brutal stuff on the amazon seller message board now:

ittybitty

I sell seasonal items. EASTER items. I’m literally in tears. I have small babies. I am crying. I will be bankrupt. I’m speechless

To get pharma companies to move back to the USA:

1. We’ll have to give them big subsidies
2. We’ll have to prohibit federal agencies (like the army) form purchasing non-USA made medicines (which means they will pay more)

Normally, I wouldn’t go for that, but I’m willing to classify pharmaceuticals under national defense.

And just a few months ago there were stories about Americans not having enough savings to make it through a crises.

I guess they were right.

If I were in the boat I would be taking out interest free loans on my credit cards left and right.

Max them out. If it all goes to hell....what’s the worst that could happen. The world ends with your credit scare falling under 600?

Will this country ever get back to normal?

Or will this become the NEW new normal?

We live in interesting times.

If the economy collapses, you think they are coming after you?

(I don’t think the economy is collapsing.)

Mark this under bad economic ideas for the apocalypse.

It’s about first world economies that created a communist country as their single point of failure... For most every product, not just medical supplies.

From another thread: "Media is spreading the word that we import a lot of our drugs from China. We do not. We do import a lot of the medical supplies and paraphernalia, such as gloves, masks, gowns, etc., which we can make ourselves."

[Begin quote] From Investopedia (2017) Who Supplies America’s Drugs?

Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, and India are the top five drug suppliers to the US, in the decreasing order of import dollar value.

More than 52% of imported drugs were from the first four countries, none of which qualifies for a low-cost or cheap-labor destination.

Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and Israel focus on research-based pharmaceutical development. Only India, with around 7% of contribution to the U.S. drug imports, is a low-cost economy offering labor cost arbitrage. It indicates that U.S. mainly imports drugs that are innovative and research-oriented, rather than those which offer cost advantage.

Ireland holds the top rank, with around $15.2 billion worth of drug exports to the U.S., constituting 18% of the total U.S. drug imports of 2015. It is closely followed by Germany with $14.5 billion, or around 17%. Another European nation, Switzerland, supplied $9.4 billion worth of drugs, representing around 11% contribution. Israel stands fourth at $6 billion, at par with Indian exports to U.S.

[End quote]

If you have a washing machine you don't need toilet paper. Just make do.

Every day Trump or Pence goes on TV and tells people not to come to work if they feel sick. Probably a good thing.
