Television personality and practicing surgeon, Dr. Oz, joined FOX and Friends Weekend on Sunday for an hour to discuss the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
During the discussion Dr. Oz told the co-hosts President Trump should not have had the coronavirus test. He didnt fit the criteria. He didnt show symptoms.
Dr. Oz also explained that the virus is likely to have been in the US for months.
Dr. Oz: Now that he got tested without any symptoms why wouldnt the average say, Hey, just test me too!
We dont have enough units. We cant get people tested who probably should be tested
If I had enough tests I would test every single American right now. You know why? Because it would give us epidemiologic data about whats really happening. I am positive that I know people who were infected but didnt realize it because it happened before coronavirus is here. There is someone I know who was actually at a party at the Oscars with the cast members of Parasite a Korean movie who got fevers, shortness of breath, fatigue. I have no idea if he had coronavirus or not. But he thinks he did. Now you hear these stories and you are like this has been around. A lot of people had this and didnt realize it. 80% of people had very subtle symptoms. They had a fever most of the time but nothing that would catch your eye. And so we dont actually know how long its been out there.

That’s exactly what I have right now. I had a mild sore throat for two days. On the third day I had trouble breathing but that’s normal since I have asthma. I figure it’s my usual bronchitis from allergies so I started taking Robitussin and that opened me up enough to cough. My doctor called in a Z-pak, some prescription cough pills, and a Prednisone taper. I feel better today but still have the rattling hard cough. At least it doesn’t feel like my lungs are being ripped out. I also had my flu and pneumonia shots. She didn’t want me to come in for an exam. She took my word that I didn’t have a fever and diagnosed over the phone. LOL With a temp of 97.5 there isn’t too much wrong that will kill me as long as I can breathe.
Don’t know if I heard it correctly. Was listening to a TV talk show this am, Fauci was a guest so was someone else... One of them stated that not all flu cases in wuhan were true convid. Thus the convid patient numbers are exagerated.
Dude did say that President Trump did listen to the medical dudes from day one.
The president was practically badgered into getting the test by the press.
I knew someone was going to come out with something like this.
Hey Oz maybe he got tested because he came into close contact with a person who has the virus. The president got tested to remove doubts about his health. That’s a lot different then someone like me getting tested just for the hell of it. I would stay away from any doctor who lacks common sense like the famous Dr Oz.
“I believe this has been in our country since December people just thought they had the flu recovered and went on with their lives”!!
Right on!
Almost positive I had it in late January/ early February.
I work at a Japanese owned company and had been in contact with four people just off the boat, so to speak, just prior to getting suck.
Fever, shortness of breath, body ache, headache and a little stomach upset, but no vomiting. Illness was very resilient for about ten days, nearly disappeared completely, then hit me again for about five more days.
Very weird.
He’s likely right. This thing has been floating around the US for a while now, which is also why the death rate numbers are completely off-beat. If you add all of the folks who have probably had it over the past six months, the death rate I would bet is very tiny.
That said, I just returned from a week in Vegas where I was surrounded by a lot of people. I flew back in last night, and today, I feel like crap. Sore throat. Achy. A little headache. Tired. I don’t know if I have this thing or not, but like many, unless it progresses past a mild flu-like experience, I’m not likely to go to a doctor about it.
My DILs mother got super sick at the first of the year. She had pneumonia, flu like symptoms but tested negative in swabs. She was in and out of the doctors office for several weeks, very ill. It seemed to get better and then she got sick again. She is doing well now but it was a tough month for her.
There is a big difference in the number of people probably already exposed to this and those who have died. Like the majority of these flu-like viruses, exposure may mean anything from nothing at all, to mild symptoms to hospitalization, with the latter being a very low number. This country has been exposed to this virus far longer than back in January yet it cannot even come close to matching the effects of the yearly flu. Take the same normal precautions, be aware, but panic is detrimental to all.
There is one silver lining to all of this Lunacy. That it will "slam" the door on the flu season!
Based upon the symptoms, they probably did have influenza B.
I both agree and disagree. He did not have symptoms , but considering he is an essential person then I understand having him tested.
I do believe the WuFlu has been around a very long timemonthsbefore anyone knew what they had.
” I would stay away from any doctor who lacks common sense like the famous Dr Oz.”
That’s my reaction, too. What a dunderhead.
Now that trump has acted, that’s a lead pipe cinch.
If trump hadn’t done anything they’d have brought umpteen pics of dead people from this in campaign ads this fal.
If trump does just enough and stops the spread it will be ‘omg, trump’s an idiot, he killed the economy for the common cold!’.
It’s a kobayashi-maru scenario for this adminstration.
I have a flu shot each year, but I seem to always get what the flu shot misses. However, this year I didn’t get sick, but as of today I have a stuffy noseno doubt a result of a thick layer of yellow pine tree Polen floating around the SE.
We mention the methods that helped us and the Hysterians jump all over us.
Methods to treat it? Get warm-sweat it out, drink massive amounts of fluids, get out in the fresh air if you can, and take naps in between, and sleep well at night.
Just like Mother used to have us do. Mom never got sick and she took care of us kids who were as sick as dogs. She did not have time to get sick since she had to referee the fights between us kids.
Yes, just go back over the winter flu season and see if there was an increase in indeterminate pneumonias over previous years.
Not me. I'm going out and about.
They never got the flu shot so that is what they thought but who knows. Also my cousin he’s in his mid 30s, in early February he was horribly sick, high fever, chills, you name it he had it, he thought he was going to die he called my uncle and said “Im not going to make it” took him weeks to get better. In Mid February my aunt whose in her 70s she had a very weird virus, she was so chilly, she didnt check her temp(She doesnt have a thermometer) her body was aching all over she said she never had anything like it took a few days to get better but ever since then when she walks around the house she gets shortness of breath which has gotten better but she still has it
I don’t think it will be apocalyptic either, except in certain out-of-control urban areas like New York or Seattle. Most of us will stay home, stock up on extra groceries, have it or not have it, and get through it just fine.
Doesn’t mean it’s not serious, but it doesn’t strike me to be as deadly as plague or even the Spanish Flu.
