Dr. Oz on Coronavirus: “This Has been Around. A Lot of People Had This and Didn’t Realize It. "
Gateway Pundit ^ | 3/15/2020 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 03/15/2020 10:29:23 AM PDT by Kazan

Television personality and practicing surgeon, Dr. Oz, joined FOX and Friends Weekend on Sunday for an hour to discuss the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

During the discussion Dr. Oz told the co-hosts President Trump should not have had the coronavirus test. “He didn’t fit the criteria. He didn’t show symptoms.”

Dr. Oz also explained that the virus is likely to have been in the US for months.

Dr. Oz: Now that he got tested without any symptoms why wouldn’t the average say, “Hey, just test me too!”… We don’t have enough units. We can’t get people tested who probably should be tested… If I had enough tests I would test every single American right now. You know why? Because it would give us epidemiologic data about what’s really happening. I am positive that I know people who were infected but didn’t realize it because it happened before coronavirus is here. There is someone I know who was actually at a party at the Oscars with the cast members of “Parasite” a Korean movie who got fevers, shortness of breath, fatigue. I have no idea if he had coronavirus or not. But he thinks he did. Now you hear these stories and you are like this has been around. A lot of people had this and didn’t realize it. 80% of people had very subtle symptoms. They had a fever most of the time but nothing that would catch your eye. And so we don’t actually know how long it’s been out there.

I believe I had it since I flew in Jan 4th and 8th. The lady next to me was sick-on the way back.

Symptoms the exact of what they say.

Other than the higher fever-it was not as bad as the resp infection I had in 09 or 10.

I’ve wondered the same. Assuming a purely natural origin, who is to say this virus has not been floating around for many months or years? It was only discovered when a large cluster formed in a particular place (Wuhan) where it was able to be observed clearly.

Yes,Dr Oz is a cardiac surgeon.IIRC he's on the staff of at least one of NYC's major hospitals. That gives him enormous credibility in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery but it doesn't give him any particular credibility in the subjects of immunology or "public health".

For expert opinions I'd look to the Chief of Infectious Diseases at a major Boston,NYC,Baltimore or San Francisco hospital or the Dean of an institution like the Harvard School of Public Health.

If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old fart’s life, it's worth it.

But..but..? HIV and AIDS...?

“The larger point is that we all carry some form of virus most of the time. Most never make is sick.“

He is right. We live in the biological soup that comprises the biosphere of this planet and we cannot isolate ourselves from everything. If this country tries to live like Michael Jackson germaphobes and hide away from one another then this country will fail.

People in my town have been taking their kids to the doctor for weeks for a sickness that doesn’t test as the flu or any known virus. Doctors have been saying that they don’t know what it is but it has flu-like symptoms. More and more parents are starting to think it was Covid-19 before it became known. Most adults with the symptoms probably didn’t even go to the doctor. All doctors have been saying was “unknown respiratory virus”. Everybody I know of has recovered.

A a few years ago a co-worker who came in sick as a dog passed around the worst case of crud I have had in over 25 years. It brought me to my knees, and the doctors said there wasn't anything I could do but rest, drink lots of fluids, stay warm, etc. Even today, I don't think my lungs recovered 100%.

I got my flu shot last September and still came down with something late in the year.

I had flu and pneumonia shots in the fall. Then in early December I got a weird sickness (for me) starting with a very sore throat and Dr said it was bronchitis...it was all I could do to get off the couch and go to the Dr. I started to recover and then it came back again but by end of December I was back to normal.

But I never had a fever and I’m wondering if it’s possible to have had this but no fever.

Rochester NY had an outbreak of something like a heavy cold this past fall, which knocked 100s of people on their butts - including my son and two grand kids.
They were tested for Flu A and B, plus strep throat ... all negative.
I'm sure we weren't the only community in the US that this hit, so here's hoping it was COVID-19 and there's some amount of immunity out there.

If it has been around for a long time in this country then there is a very good possibility that we have all been exposed at one time or another. Exposure activates the immune system to develop antibodies which fight off successive infections. Once that happens you are less susceptible to being infected by a repeat exposure.

Maybe many of us are immune but don’t know it. Can you catch the disease twice? That seems to me to be a very important question.

Didn’t Trump say two months ago that if his administration found a cure for the virus, they would want to impeach him for not doing it sooner and letting people die

But wasn’t Trump exposed to the Brazilian president (or some official from Brazil) who later tested positive?

The people saying “He shouldn’t have been tested” were probably secretly hoping he would get tested and would be positive.

I think my husband had it in January. He works at a rural hospital. He and his boss were under the weather with a cough and feeling drained for about 2 weeks. Another co-worker in his department caught it and almost died due to underlying conditions (diabetic). She was hospitalized for 5 weeks and is still recuperating at home. Symptoms weren’t like the typical flu.
