Philip Haney, who spoke out against his own agency during the Obama administration, was found dead in Plymouth, California last Friday
His body was found in a park and ride area near Highway 16 and Highway 124
The Amador County Sheriff's Office initially said the 66-year-old was found with what appeared to be a 'self-inflicted gunshot wound'
The sheriff's office have since described those initial reports as 'misinformation' and said they have asked the FBI for assistance in investigating Haney's death
They are conducting an autopsy and examining documents, a laptop and phone records found at the scene
Haney gained national attention in 2016 when he criticized the agency for its handling of radical Jihadists and Islamic extremists
Source have said that Haney had been in contact with officials about possibly making a return to the the DHS

Authorities have backtracked on initial reports that a Department of Homeland Security whistleblower committed suicide after his body was found with a gunshot wound by a California highway.
Philip Haney, who spoke out against his own agency during the Obama administration, was found dead in Plymouth, about 40 miles east of Sacramento, last Friday.
His body was found in a park and ride area near Highway 16 and Highway 124.
The Amador County Sheriff's Office initially said the 66-year-old was found with what appeared to be a 'self-inflicted gunshot wound'.
They also said a firearm had been found next to Haney and his vehicle.
The sheriff's office have since described those initial reports as 'misinformation' and said they have asked the FBI for assistance in investigating Haney's death.

In California, a park-and-ride is generally just an open parking lot with no amenities like a rest stop. During the week it's filled with cars left while car-pooling or catching a commuter bus. Weekends they're just an empty parking lot.
From an overhead view, it’s not so much a park and ride, as it is a basic turn out, unless there are signs on the ground designating the space as such. There are two of them in the immediate area.
What it is not, is a park, in the traditional sense of what one thinks about the design and function of a park.
I posted this link at another Philip Haney (RIP) thread. It’s a hot link to the evil Google Maps, but the page is not clogged up with ads like the MapQuest site. I didn’t see a function to convert the down view to a satellite image, but it may have been there and I missed it in my impatience. Thanks just the same.
FBI involved .... this will go under the rug and the personal property will be misplaced, IMHO.
This is Amador county, as RED as it gets in CA.
By the way, the gist of their statement was that it was PREMATURE to declare it suicide, after initial reports of “apparent suicide”.
The Amador County Sheriff will not allow any BS in this case.
Count on it.
At least they could call in a legitimate investigative team like the Keystone Cops.

You have no evidence to support that assertion.
Why not a real team, like the cast from NCIS?
Haney may have been going there to meet up with someone and that someone killed him.
Or a rogue criminal opportunist stopped by and killed him during a p!$$ break or some other minor vehicle/travel task that he was accomplishing.
Occam’s Razor- He did not kill himself.

Haney’s close friend Jan Markell, a radio host, author and speaker, tweeted out this from her last conversation with Phil Haney:
“My friend Phil Haney was found shot yesterday in CA. I had lunch with him a month ago. He warned something could happen to him. He was to get married in a month. It will be falsely called a suicide.
The Deep State wants to cover this up but it seems that they just can’t hide the fact that his close friends are confirming. This man didn’t want to take his life.”

I remember the old days when during the Vietnam War if the government said X didn’t happen, you knew it really did and they were just lying.
I am beginning to think that the FBI and Deep State never learned that honesty is the best policy.
No kidding, I’d read he had “insurance” but hopefully made sure someone offsite can get to it?
