Theyre the Real Housewives of Fighting Crime.
A band of Manhattan moms are trading luncheons and playdates for political lobbying and police meetings all in the name of protecting their kids from rising crime, bail-reform loopholes, aggressive panhandlers, and what they see as a general return of lawlessness.
The 2,600-mother movement formed on the Upper West Side in the fall, when a string of high-profile muggings and a playground shooting put the family-oriented neighborhood on edge and one woman decided to do something about it.
My background is in finance and non-profit. Im not like an activist or a crusader. Im home with three kids, said Upper West Sider Elizabeth Carr. I started in the last year feeling like we were seeing homeless encampments pop up, regular panhandlers in our face and walking through clouds and clouds of marijuana smoke with my kids at 8 a.m.
After the October gunplay at the Samuel N. Bennerson II Playground, Carr put out a call to action on various parent Facebook groups, and NYC Moms for Safer Streets was born.
Armed with branded literature, a professionally produced website and personal stories of coming face-to-face with unruly youth and mentally-disturbed New Yorkers, the moms secured meetings with a slew of community leaders, from state lawmakers and Gov. Cuomos office to NYPD brass and City Councilmembers.
We came together as just a group of parents who have seen a considerable change in our neighborhood, and obviously the shooting was a major incident, but there has been a deterioration for some time, said Nicole Palame, an Upper East Side mom to a 5-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy.

Its a womens issue. Letting thousands of criminals on the street harms women.
Women: Until we get a real sheriff in town we and the ropes and guns are here to stay. Get it?
They voted for it.
If they vote democrat . . .they are spinning their wheels for reform.
The Women: And we are naming our brand new organization the Republican Party. Oh, wait. That's taken.
This is the real war on women, why does deblasio hate women?
Probably a lot of these people voted for de Blasio, if they even bothered to vote, but theyre finally having a wake-up moment. Hope they stick with it and carry it through.
De Blasio cant run again, but his would p-be successors are as bad as he was. I have heard rumors that Giuliani might make run again, and even at his age, I think hed win. Even with these (disgusted) Dem moms.
They built a website. Meaningless drivel.
To Elizabeth Carr and the others:
If you need more people, or greater involvement of the people you have, remind them that their property values go down when the neighborhood gets crime-infested. Co-ops, condos, private residences-—all lose lots of value when the area deteriorates.
That’s not the main reason, but it’s very persuasive to some, to get them involved or to get them to be more involved.
“the old Ansonia Hotel”
LOL
Upper class in San Francisco pay for security with their own funds.
This situation seems ripe for some sort of Organized Syndicate to provide such security.
It is possible they did not vote for him. Single or divorced women (and men) tend to vote democrat while married couples tend to vote Republican.
It is an interesting twist that may partly explain why cities tend to trend democrat.
Where were they during the past 2 elections when only 22% of registered NYC voters bothered to vote?”
“...Manhattan moms are trading luncheons and playdates for political lobbying and police meetings ...”
And the police tell them there isn’t shit they can do.
The reason is that we are a one-party town now. I’ve said this before, but the reason is that the Dems don’t bother to vote because they know they can’t lose, and the Republicans don’t vote because they know they can’t win.
Result: Nobody votes.
Dem primaries are the only time the mass of voters get their wienies up, and if the candidate is a celebrity, it’s no contest. That’s why we should stop posting Miss Lipstick of the Bronx’s picture all over the place and stop talking about her constantly. Now she can’t lose, even though she has some really good people running against her.

Here’s your problem madame...if you were even halfway normal you wouln’t be living there.
I wish I had more sympathy for them, but as they voted for the dems, these are the consequences in which they have to deal. Good luck to them.
Enjoy the Clockwork Orange you created!
Or learn how to connect the dots.
