San Francisco Mayor London Breed is planning to provide an update early Monday afternoon on what the city has done, and what it still plans to do, in the wake of a deadly outbreak of coronavirus in China that has sickened five people in the United States.
The mayor is expected to announce that San Francisco’s emergency operations center has been activated in an effort to centralize the city’s response to any local cases of the virus.
“It’s so we have a centralized location and process to prepare for what we need to do, to share public information, and to take any action if necessary,” said Jeff Cretan, a spokesman for Breed.

San Francisco has a VERY large Chinatown and 10s of thousands of Chinese who maintain contact with, and visit China.
Wuhan evacutions to SF where moved out of the country. Canada..Alaska..then SF
SF also has a large population living and pooping on the streets.
They should have done this to deal with HIV, antibiotic resistant STDs and typhus.
This is not a thread for hating on SF and California.

The Chinese New Year is the largest annual human migration as people fly to be with family members back in China.
Yep. You are right. I hope they know what they are doing. After one of the flu scares years back, they put in buzzers at end of sidewalk of my local hospital’ ER for people with symptoms and travel history to not go in ER on their own.
Yep, true. I think it’s fine she wants to gear up to deal with the threat of the virus. But it does seem odd, that a major public health threat on her streets is simply ignored.
Typhus, No problem
Malaria, No Problem
The Plague, No Problem
HIV/AIDS, No Problem.....
catch the FLU and boy oh boy are we concerned.
I don't mind them reliving themselves (especially the one and two year ages) but relieving themselves is another matter altogether.
There aren’t enough negative pressure hospital beds in SF to manage any kind of meaningful outbreak — or anywhere else in the US for that matter.
They should have a high tolerance immune system due to all the feces & filth around the area, no?
Corona should be the least of their worries.

Coronavirus, basically a type of cold we activate the emergency operations center. Probably 50,000 pounds of human poop per day dumped on the sidewalk and washing down into the bay.... no biggie.
...but in SF you can walk into any pharmacy and as long as you steal less than $900.00 in antibiotics and medicines you wont go to jail
