SAN MARCOS, Texas Michael R. Bloomberg on Saturday did not rule out spending a billion dollars of his own money on the 2020 presidential race, even if he does not win the Democratic nomination, and said he would mobilize his well-financed political operation to help Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren win in November if either is the party nominee, despite their sharp policy differences.
Mr. Bloombergs plans would effectively create a shadow campaign operation for the general election, complete with hundreds of organizers in key battleground states and a robust digital operation, ready to be inherited by the party nominee regardless of who that nominee may be.
Already, Mr. Bloomberg has spent more than $200 million on advertising, putting him on pace to spend by early March about the same as what President Barack Obamas campaign spent on advertising over the course of the entire 2012 general election. If Mr. Bloomberg fails to win the nomination, future spending would be redirected toward attacking Mr. Trump.
It depends whether the candidate needs help; if theyre doing very well, they need less. If theyre not, theyll need more, he said in an interview after a lunch stop at a barbecue restaurant during a campaign swing through Texas.
While he did not rule out dropping a billion dollars on his effort, the former mayor of New York City blanched slightly at the size of the number, before mentioning the $2.8 billion he spent on charitable contributions last year, with the bulk going to his alma mater, Johns Hopkins University.
You know how much money a billion dollars is? said Mr. Bloomberg. Its a lot of money to me. Its a lot of money to anybody.

A 5 foot President will never happen.

Jeb Bush is taller and blew through a wad of money winning 3 delegates in NH.
He’s trying to Perot Trump. He might be able to do it with that amount of bullshit money, and his ties to the MSM. Lots of work ahead to defeat the bastard.
Well Bloomberg with $1 billion less and Trump as President sounds good to me.
hes a fool
My fear is these anti American billionaires putting their money into senate and house races where they can have a massive effect. This was what they did in 2018 and you see the result. Wasting the cash on Trump v. Warren/Sanders OK by me.
So, Mikey wants to spend a billion of his own money to turn the USA into Venezuela?
From that, it is more than evident how much he loves his country.
Try 100 billion Little Michael; but don’t expect any success. But you can get in to the Guinness Book for Most Money pent in a losing campaign. That record will stand forever.
Strategically it’s STUPID to announce plans to buy a political office...as it galvanizes opposition, and makes whoever he supports look bought.
He should have stuck with his earlier, behind the scenes, activities (as Soros also does).
All the t.v. and radio ad sales departments just did their happy dance.
Bloomie.....what a bitter little person...
Lat’ HAHAHA after we win.
Are you saying Trump is gonna win 49 states, like Reagan?
Not sure what you’re saying.
Comparing elections to ones so far in the past makes no sense.
At all.
This image has been “photoshopped.”
The Washington Compost will be very upset.
A billion dollars to tell us again, maybe in a different way, we’re racists, bigots, etc...and we need to pay for illegals free stuff. And give up our life conveniences for climate change. Same sh!t, different day...it doesn’t sell anymore.
And Jeb! would have gotten the GOPe nomination at the convention.
The deep state must be freaking out to send Bloomberg out with this message.
