I would concur.
The FAA doesn’t control the airspace over any country but the US. They can, however, forbid licensed US pilots from flying there.
As I said, it was only my first thought.
I think the Iranians leaders are $&it*&g down both legs and missed on purpose so they could save face/honor. At the same time, I expect the Iranian civilians are doing the same for fear of what might come next. I hope Trump has his words crafted just right in solid Trump speak to avoid having to take the next immediate step. But I also hope, if he does, he's prepared to go ALL THE WAY.

The purported video of the Ukrainian plane shows it on fire as it goes down, and dropping a long way before it crashed. But the flight data on Flight Radar 24 shows no descent. Something catastrophic on plane that caused it to stop transmitting data & catch on fire?

my first thought as well.
I’m no pilot (hell, I can’t even keep a paper kite out of the trees), but it looked like that pilot was zig-zagging like hell to keep that thing under control the whole way. One might think that something that big and in that sort of mechanical distress couldn’t handle the G-forces - or even the speed - to do that and hit the ground intact. But I’m talking out my ass again, which always gets me into trouble. Licensed pilots are welcome to explain it to me.

It’s possible that the plane carried a lot of the leadership of Iran. Trying to get out of town.

seems unlikely....it had just taken off from the airport..
if is was shot down it was a terrorist attack. from a hand held stinger type missile
