I have NEST and love it.
The NSA and the Butchers of Beijing would both like to thank you for the feed.
Isn’t Nest Google?
Still feel safe?
Got it before Google bot it. it was in before all of its c.ompetitors
Just don’t use these contraptions inside your home to monitor kids.
I’ve got a basic, old-fashioned, 1980s style doorbell. Works just great for me. No Nest, no Ring, no Alexa, none of that crap. They tell you that they aren’t eavesdropping, but I don’t believe it.
Believing Google or Amazon regarding security is like believing a Democrat to keep a state secret from the press.
I don't care too much who is looking at outside of my front door, as long as they're not looking or listening inside my house.

Nope.
“Believing Google or Amazon regarding security is like believing a Democrat to keep a state secret from the press.

My Ring is not accessible by Amazon People have developed APIs which allow you to completely control the doorbell - some functions are absent are the basic functions work.Just don’t update the firmware on the doorbell. All my video is stored locally, and is sent encrypted to go to one of my cloud buckets.
LOL...haven’t seen that in years (maybe decades!). Teri Garr said “thank you” so perfectly, so demurely, so innocently. Sigh.
Me too, when the wife lets me.
Why would a homeowner accommodate a trespasser with a door bell? How does s trespasser make it to the door in the first place?
Next, let’s discuss the safe way to get into a stranger’s car.
I don’t use cameras connected to anyone’s cloud infrastructure inside my home. Outside is a different story - I have Nest cameras covering each entry-way into my house. Inside - there’s no real need for cameras, and if there were I’d use my own monitoring software and my own storage.
I can see all of you who have the Ring camera and the Nest camera. Some of are not wearing pants!
Questions:
1. Why do you love it?
2. What does it matter if you put it in before Google bought it?
3. Does it have a smart component i.e. is internet accessible?
Nest systems have been hacked and hijacked repeatedly.
I wouldnt foul my nest with any of this network security, store local.
