By this logic, any time a President vetoes a bill, they can call it “Obstruction of Congress”

This is going to be a true test of John Roberts. As the Supreme Court Chief Justice, he will preside as judge over the Senate impeachment trial.

Let’s see if he throws this pile of crap out with prejudice and a harsh written opinion, or sucks it up and plays Judge Napolitano for three months...

My hope is that the defeat in November is so sound that we control both the House and Senate and Trump gets to deliver on this promises... especially draining the Swamp.

If this impeachment somehow sticks I WILL go to Washington and I WILL march on the Capitol building. That decision was made months ago.

Set the record for the shortest Senate trial, 20 minutes for this farce sounds right, but it's the world's greatest deliberative body so it could take them upwards of a day.

Then attack, Senate hearings, DOJ indictments, media ad blitz, a weekly Presidential rally in swing states, with a booming economy, it'll be a great summer, so much winning!

And the republicans will be able to record hours of lunatic leftist video for 2020 campaign ads.

As far as Obstruction of Congress...I think you need an underlying crime to obstruct against.

Obstruction of congress is an absolute non starter, unless they have been to court to try to enforce a subpoena there's nothing there. It gets dismissed out of hand. The Republicans have an opportunity to really demonstrate how corrupt the Democrats are by putting the "whistleblower" on the stand and then the Inspector General of the Intelligence community.

The impeachment kangaroo court has duped no one.As you know, Nancy is finished.

Kangaroo Court is NOW!

And I mean kangaroo. We even had one democrat, counsel Barry Berke appear as a witness and then hop like a Kangaroo over to be a questioner. To ask himself questions he would have had to Ask the Question, then hop back to the witness table at a speed 10 times the speed of sound in order to answer his own question to himself, making cross examination also impossible. Rep. Gomert, a former judge, objected, pointed this fact out and was graveled down on his point of order by Bolshevik Nadler who was a dead ringer for the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. It will be a source of unending ridicule of Nadler and Schiff, and the whole Democrat party.

As a matter of fact, the major effects these Mrs.Doubtfire Hearings have had on America is in a rapid rise of firearm sales and a massive increase in popcorn sales.

No one except the most banal, desperate socialists who are losing to President Trump are “duped” on purpose by these surveillance state Democrats of dirty name. A name they have earned.

Don’t even worry about anyone being duped. These hearings couldn’t dupe a 6 year old.

President Trumps popularity is soaring because of these Alice in Wonderland Impeachment hearings, assuring him of a massive 40 state win in Nov. 2020. Its great entertainment though with Nadler as the Queen of Hearts, Schiff as the Mad Hatter, Joe Biden as the Cheshire cat,and President Trump , Alice herself.

How can anyone take it seriously at all?

The cost Nancy will pay is that her speaker-ship is finished.

No such thing a “Obstruction of Congress”. That is a completely fraudulent charge with utterly no merit what so ever. This PDF is merely a pathetic attempt to conflate “Obstruction of Justice” into a completely made up new charge of “Obstruction of Congress”.
The Executive is a Co Equal Branch of Govt. Basically the Democrats are trying to manufacture a scheme that Congress has some sort of mythical super authority over our Government.
Based on this ridiculous claim they could impeach Supreme Court Justices any time they over turned a Congressional act. By ruling against the act of Congress the Justices would be guilty of this mythical “Obstruction of Congress”

What happened to quid pro quo and bribery?? I thought that was what they had overwhelming evidence for. Guess not....

They finally settled on what flew best with the focus group. Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. Both are easily defended against.

The first article of impeachment is easily defended by arguing and showing there is a rational alternative, logical, and legal explanation under the law that covers all the events the Democrats claim are only for some future benefit resounding to Trump that are instead benefiting the goals of the US, which also might potentially but peripherally benefit President Trump.

The second Article of Impeachment is much more easily defended by pointing out that legally stating that invoking the Right to involve the Third Branch, which is the Constitutional remedy to Congressional overreach in defense of Executive privilege and immunities, cannot be Obstruction of Congress. It has been used multiple times before by multiple presidents, including President Trump, and President Obama.

The Constitutional fact is that the overriding authority of TWO branches in agreement is the only thing that (ahem) trumps the unconstitutional demands of the THIRD branch.

If the Courts rule in favor of Congress, then the House of Representatives get to question the President’s Executive Department employees and have free access to the documents they want to see, but if the Courts rule in favor of the president’s position, then they do not. The courts may split the baby and allow a compromise, which the court has done in the past. Congress wants to have sole discretion to demand anything they want, but, as Professor Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz have both pointed out, it doesn’t work like that, and has not for 230 years.

Both of those very scholarly Constitutional experts have said that if the Democrats in the House brought an Article of Impeachment based on Obstruction of Congress because President Trump went to court to block demands for access to testimony from close advisors and for privileged documents, they’d be abusing their power. They did, and are.

I just wonder — if Congress were to pass some piece of legislation, and a President were to veto that legislation, would that be considered Obstruction of Congress?

I am certain that some Democrats are convinced it would.

Trump should counter-Impeach:

Abuse of power: Making charges up out of whole cloth with no evidence solely to attempt to sway an upcoming election, and

Obstruction of The Executive Branch: Not allowing the Executive Branch to present evidence, or cross examine fake ‘witnesses’ in the Congressional hearings.

I’m serious. He really should Counter-Impeach.

My take on Dems plan.

1. you voted for us to give us a majority in large part on impeach him.. Done
2. we know the senate republicans will not impeach
3. this is an injustice
4. we need to retain the house and gain the senate to right this wrong...

Theres their gameplay for 2020.

Have their cake and eat it too.

With the Senate firmly in Republican hands, Chief Justice Roberts is, thankfully, inconsequential to the outcome.

Having said that, I expect him to get a few jabs in.

One of the news organizations should do an analysis of how many hours were spent on those issues in the days of hearings and then ask , why isn’t it an article...

This would show it was all fakery to simply just get something out there to impeach him on.

I agree with every word of that...

It’s almost as if they all got together 3yrs ago and came up with a plan to purposely destroy their own party. Because they couldn’t have done it better if they tried.

Is “abuse of power” a crime? I could see if you abused FISA procedures to get a fake investigation started, well there’s all kinds of crimes there. The President asked Ukraine’s President to investigate corruption. Maybe the never Trumpers see that as bigly wrong but where’s the crime? Anyone, Anyone, Bueller, I mean Mueller.
