MANCHESTER, N.H. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially entered the 2020 race Sunday, ending several weeks of will-he-or-wont-he speculation about a late entry into the already-crowded Democratic primary.
Bloombergs entry was preceded by news of a massive television ad buy $31 million, according to Advertising Analytics, who told NBC News it was the single largest single week expenditure theyd ever tracked. A $30 million buy in the final weeks of the 2012 race for then-President Barack Obama held the previous record.
The ad promotes Bloomberg's record as mayor and then promises "to rebuild the country and restore faith in the dream that defines us: where the wealthy will pay more in taxes and the middle class get their fair share; everyone without health insurance can get it and everyone who likes theirs, keep it; where jobs won't just help you get by but get ahead. And on all those things, Mike Bloomberg intends to make good."

Looks like he sees Joe as dumpster material.
He can take our salt and our big gulps when he pries them from our cold dead fingers.
We need some campaign literature for puppy training.
Bloomberg’s first 100 days:
Ban trans-fats
Ban beverages over 12 oz
Ban straws
Tax on snack foods
More taxes on gas
Phase-out of cars
BAN GUNS
Should be fun. I’m sure that Nanny Bloomberg will do just super in “gun country” as camo-wearing fake moderate democrats like to call it. He and Steyer are sucking all the wind out of the room, as they have private money, vs the chump change the DNC has in the bank. Can’t wait to see the ads during football games. Get the popcorn. Slogan idea: “Not the worst mayor in NYC history”.
Mike is acting like he can provide all those things, but he only has $50 billion. What he claims to be able to distribute will be closer to $50 trillion (over ten years).
Bloomberg spent $250m to get three mayoral terms in NYC, 10x his opponents. Based on presidential runs costing roughly $400m to $700m, Bloomberg might spend up to $7b in his White House bid. His $50b personal fortune gives him a lot of ammo. Since he made his fortune collating financial data and selling it to Wall Street, crushing the incumbent and much more established Reuters and Thomson in the process, it is likely that he will have a data operation that gives both his primary and general election (if he makes it that far) opponents a run for their money.
An eagle in every pot and a unicorn in every garage! Just help this struggling double-digit billionaire oust a pitiful single-digit billionaire with a large family, from their hard-won public housing.
After seeing the 60 Minutes puff piece on Jamie Dimon 2 or so weeks ago, I can see them trotting him out at the DNC Convention to go mano-e-mano businessman to businessman against President Trump.
Just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary....
[Mike is acting like he can provide all those things, but he only has $50 billion. What he claims to be able to distribute will be closer to $50 trillion (over ten years).]
Gonna need a bigger popcorn.
Notice there are no Democrats or grassroots liberals screaming about Steyer or Bloomberg’s wealth.
Steyer/Bloomberg 2020
We gots da billions
Good observations.
But, in order to win as a Dem, he’s got to scoop up the giveaway crazies, and that requires a lot of spending promises.
I think you’re right... no chance to be the Dem candidate. Maybe if he had started out on stage earlier, he might have had a chance, but how was he to know how the clown-car that is the current group would shape up through the first five debates? It’s going to be tough to build momentum for any new entrant. Look at the Obama-endorsed Deval’s first rally, where three ... count ‘em.... three people showed up.
How long before Trump welcomes him by selling Trump Big Gulps on the Trump campaign site?
I can see them trotting him out at the DNC Convention
but no one person more then 25% .......brokered convention likely( even without bloomberg)... but then Bloomberg may get the nod
Im sure when the other candidates saw this they all had their big gulp moment.
I wonder if hell fart loudly too?
Seems like everyones doing it these days.
