Harvard accepted $8.9M from Jeffrey Epstein but no money after the pedophiles 2008 guilty plea. Epstein was also made a Visiting Fellow in Harvard's Department of Psychology in 2005 at the urging of former faculty member Stephen Kosslyn. The news follows revelations that Epstein donated $7.5M to MIT money MIT pocketed after, and despite, his pleading guilty to soliciting sex from an underage girl.
We are seeking to learn more about the nature of that appointment from Dr. Kosslyn, who no longer works at the University, Harvard president Lawrence S. Bacow said in an email to students, alumni and faculty. The cash, accepted between 1998 and 2007, supported various faculty and institutional research activities across the University, Bacow said.
The largest single gift was $6.5 million Epstein gave in 2003 to support Harvards Program for Evolutionary Dynamics...."the study of the fundamental mathematical principles that guide evolution, the universitys website says. Epsteins gifts funded research and education and nearly all were spent years ago, the email said, without elaborating. The email ends, Jeffrey Epsteins crimes were repulsive and reprehensible. I profoundly regret Harvards past association with him. Conduct such as his has no place in our society. We act today in recognition of that fact. And we do so knowing that the scourge of sexual assault continues to demand our close attention and concerted action. Harvard is not perfect, but you have my commitment as president that we will always strive to be better. Sincerely, Lawrence S. Bacow.

Stephen Kosslyn.
What did Epstein want with Harvard?
Access?
If so, to whom and/or what...?
(When's the nuclear strike on Harvard again?)
Harvard’s got the Epstein stain.......
Must be plenty of nubile Harvard girls looking for “new adventures.”
Harvard got nuked bigtime by the Epstein revelation......
......gonna be hard to explain that, academically speaking.......
FWIW, I don’t think they were there for girls to use/abuse.
Depending on what Epstein wanted from Harvard, that 8.9 mil may be the least of Harvard’s problems.
The buzz on Epstein is that his every waking moment was spent on getting sex.
Harvard has been living on reputation for a long, long time. Most Ivy League schools are ultimate good old boys clubs that promote exclusiveness, not excellence. Save your money.
LOL! Top Brain, Bottom Brain Sounds like a psychology book on Bill Clinton!
The Visiting Fellow appointment is interesting....b/c as far as we know, Epstein was known as a "financier" and had few academic credentials.
.......except for a stint at the elite Dalton School where he was dismissed for "poor performance"
(another bit of Epstein history that should be looked into).......
Epstein's Harvard V/F'ship is looking more and more like a payoff.
BOL........
Those eggheads are THE biggest hypocrites around! Higher education? Please!!!
Wondering if the timing of the donations means anything...
Turn over enough rocks, and you’ll probably find some slimy connection to The Clintons
Harvards Program for Evolutionary Dynamics (from its web site)
"Evolutionary dynamics" is the study of the fundamental mathematical principles that guide evolution. The Program for Evolutionary Dynamics (PED) at Harvard University was established in 2003 and is dedicated to research and teaching.
Martin Nowak, Professor of Mathematics and of Biology at Harvard University, is the director of this program. May Huang is the Chief Administrative Officer.
Our current research topics include: evolution of cooperation, cancer, viruses, evolutionary game/graph/set theory, prelife, protocells, eusociality, evolution of construction, population structure, evolution of language, experimental games, and evolutionary economics.
Our ambitious goals include curing the world of cancer, infectious disease, selfishness, and inclusive fitness theory. Our work is about understanding the past, managing the present, and helping to build the future.
